I built a computer with an amd fx 9590 black running BI for a couple yrs. never had intel always amd cause of cost. i have 12-hikivision 1080p cams & 18-720p cams. they record 24hr a day everything is set at 15fps. and runs about 50% but when i am viewing all the cams recording at once it is ok but when i speed it up it goes to 100% and hangs. also I know it uses a lot of juice and looking to maybe go to intel. I have been searching and going thru recommendations on systems for several days now. being everything is newer i was gonna just change motherboard and cpu.

For chip i was looking at 6th gen Intel Core i7-6700k 4GHz will that give me a big performance boost? and will it work with the hardware acceleration i have been reading about? i have 16gb of ram, main drive 500gb ssd and 3 4tb purple drives in the current system so for about 400 i can do chip and board.

Thanks in advance

Jay

Yes you should see a decent boost because of the hardware acceleration. Particularly since he just added HA to playback with BVR. You will also save a ton of money on power consumption. That amd processor is a crazy power hog.

That's what i thought but everything i have been reading is buying i5-4590 and i7-4790 pc's for 300 to 500 and wasn't sure about the i7-6700.

the generation on these chips got me confused. which chipset for the motherboard should i get? I am planing on going to microcenter and get chip and board tomorrow.

Thank

The i7-6700k is 6th gen (the latest) folks are buying the haswells because the systems are cheaper. The 6700k has improved intel hd graphics. Make sure you remove your current video card.
