Doorbird, a German company who has been selling overpriced 720p doorbells has released (for pre-order) a new 1080p model D1101V. At $527 its a significant premium over the hik/dahua doorbells, but cheaper than more expensive axis. Supports wired POE or wifi(2.4 only!!!), Bluetooth and sip. There are flush mount models as well. The Open API sounds promising.
EDIT: Looks like there is no sd card slot - no mention in the spec sheet. Strange.

I had the 720p version at my old place. Worked well with blueiris. Camera quality was crap imo.

I had a 100/40mpbs fiber to the home internet connection and had it directly connected via POE. Via the doorbird app the video connection was unusable. The lag time to actually talk was too delayed most likely to their cloud connection. I assume their data center was based in Germany and me in Australia the amount hops most likely created to much lag.

Can't disagree with your comments. I have the 210V and we have installed several for others.
Pros: easy and reliable setup. Solid app with no port forwarding
Cons: poor video quality. 16x9 aspect ratio better suited to home entertainment than security video

I bought this new doorbell (D1101V - which should be 1080p Sony sensor).
First impression was very good (very good looking intercom which don't look cheap, brushed aluminum front, backlight bell button, nice looking mobile app, easy configuration of the mobile app). But after using it I found many flaws:

  • video quality is very bad - very very soft picture, no details, very low dynamic range, very compressed..
  • the only RTSP stream is 1280x720... MJPEG stream over WWW is 640x480... where is 1080p described in specification for this model????
  • low light video quality is terrible!!!! worst noise I saw in my life... where is Sony sensor described on website for this model????
  • there is no noise reduction (any setting in app), there is no WDR.... there is no resolution or compression level options... only brightness and contrast...
  • IR little helps, there is missing IR light correction and no WDR - so You don't see people & face details with IR light (to bright IR)...
  • IR/BW color mode works all night (good), but turn on to late in evening (one-two hours of very noise video stream every day)...
  • also IR can't turn off/turn on many times in night with some light in area (it can't decide which is better - without IR video is very very noise)...

  • in home over LAN/WIFI mobile APP works fast - but when You move to LTE it degrades to very low resolution and 1 fps with 1-2 second delay... I have 500/100 fiber connection, my mobile and fiber are in the same company, classic Dahua mobile apps shows me multiple full streams 4MP/25fps over LTE without any problems...
  • intercom/mobile APP don't offer P2P or open port configuration - if You outside Your home wifi mobile app always connect by using same servers located in Germany... There is no real cloud (AWS or something), no multiple servers located in different countries.
  • this app don't rings on IOS (like FaceTime)... there is single notification with same ring attached..
  • the notification don't contain event attached picture from cam,
  • there is small app for apple watch but it only shows text notification and allow to open gate... no picture, no video, talk function don't worked for me...
  • also Apple Watch notification blocks attached ring from iPhone notification (there is no sound on iPhone, You must disable Apple Watch notification for this app - but this is Apple problem).

  • ONVIF integration didn't work for me (with Dahua NVR on latest firmware). After many tries and changed it to custom protocol with RTSP stream URL - and this worked - but there is only main stream (no sub stream).
  • after a few hours on my desk, back of intercom is very hot.. it has very big heat-conductive foam on back so DoorBird known about heat problem. In documentation is information that intercom can't be installed in sunny area.

Can someone confirm these problems??? Or I receive some faulty set with very bad sensor/optics...

Because I tested 3 different intercoms (latest second generation HIK DS-KD8003, latest Dahua DHI-VTO2202F-P, latest Doorbell D1101V) on my desk in the same time - I can put this picture to comparsion.
First is HIK intercom, second is Dahua Starlight cam (5442), third is Doorbird, fourth is Dahua intercom.

Doorbird has worst noise (no correction at all), HIK intercom is second worst one.. Dahua intercom and cam have the best image.

Wow. That is terrible. It amazes me that no one can build a proper doorbell cam. Axis is not bad but at 800 dollars insane.

Doorbird D1101V was 671.00 Euro (flushed mounted, salt resistant front) and it has the worst image quality and mobile app speed over LTE.
It has big backlighted bell button and IR which can works all night. It overheats.
It send one mobile notification to IOS devices. Notification don't contain any picture.
It uses server located in Germany (no P2P/open ports config). It works as standalone device (no indoor station requirement).
Open documented API, working web hooks, big number of integrations (Web, ONVIF, RTSP, MJPEG, most popular home automation system have integration with Doorbird)...
Configuration only via mobile app.

HIK DS-KD8003 was about 210 euro with flush mounted frame. Second worst image. Good speed in mobile app over LTE.
It has big backlighted bell button and IR which can work all night. No overheat problems.
It send one mobile notification to IOS devices. Notification don't contain any picture.
It uses P2P or open ports. It DON'T WORK as standalone device - it require HIK indoor station - which works as voice server, push notification server and proxy to HIK Connect (P2P).
HIK offers many models of indoor station (for 120-250 euro extra) - and the more expensive have nice look, good screen technology (IPS) and modern User Interface.
This model is not ONVIF compliant (only HIK private protocol + RTSP), there is no web config page (closed port 80), no open documented API.
Some options can be setup over IVMS (more on PC, less on Mac), the rest is configured in indoor station.

Dahua DHI-VTO2202F-P was about 300 euro with flush mounted frame. The best image. Good speed in mobile app over LTE.
It has metal round bell button which is NOT backlighted. IR turns on only for 30 second after someone push bell button at night. No overheats problems.
It send one mobile notification to IOS devices. Notification don't contain any picture.
It uses P2P or open ports. It WORKs as standalone device (no indoor station requirement).
Dahua offers many models of indoor station (180-220 euro extra), but all are very cheap looking, old screen technology (TFT) and very ancient User Interface.
ONVIF compilant, SIP server&client, works with external SIP servers, RTSP, MJPEG... I found documentation for Dahua web API - but web hook implementation is more complicated.
Configuration via web config page. Mac SmartPSS see this intercom but don't offer device config/live view...

Wow, that's the price of a good LPR camera and it can't even give you a good picture when your standing 2 feet in front of it. SMH
