When you say you are even back to your home pc.. what UI are you using on your mobile device?
 
After you VPN back into your home network, you can use the BI app ( $10 for the app) or simply open up a browser on your device like Chrome and type in the IP address of your server and login to Blue Iris and up comes the feeds, alerts, ability to playback, etc.
