New Hik DS-2CD2332-I just out of the box...

Purchased this DS-2CD2332-I from CCTV Camera China and just pulled it out of the box...

From Configuration > System...
Serial No. DS-2CD2332-I20150330CCCH51xxxxxxx
Firmware Version V5.2.5 build 141201
Encoding Version V5.0 build 140714

But the label on the box tells a different tale...

An interesting side note: this camera defaulted to 192.168.1.28 out of the box but also responded to a ping at 192.0.0.64. Huh?

These are Chinese region cameras and the firmware on the sticker is the Chinese firmware (5.2.8) that the original manufacturer installed on the camera when it was made.....Your seller downgraded the firmware to 5.2.5 so that they could hack the camera and convert it to English.

The camera should work fine as long as you keep it on the current firmware. If you try to upgrade the firmware, your camera will either revert to all Chinese (or may not even work at all)....If for some reason you need to upgrade firmware in the future, you will need to hack into the camera yourself and change the region code to prevent the new firmware from being in all Chinese.
