HI All

Just checking if I have installed correctly as I didn't do any activation on cameras.
Setup my DS-7608NI-I2-8P 8ch device, went through the wizard and everything okay.
I connected my three DS-2CD2385FWD cameras and they all came online and setup everything, recording etc.
Tested and playback fine.

Question I ask is the manuals and online website seems to indicate I need to activate the cameras first. As I didn't and they are all working fine is this okay?

The NVR did the camera activation, assuming the channels were in Plug&Play mode.

Thanks for that. So now I assume that if I ever to reuse these cameras somewhere else or a new system they will all have the admin password of what I setup on the NVR?

Yes, that is correct. And they will have a fixed IP address to match the channels of the NVR.
By default, this will be the NVR password, though on the newer NVR firmware (I forget which version) it's possible to define a separate password that is applied to the cameras.
Check out the NVR 'Forgot password' recovery facility - the Security Questions recovery option works well.

You can check out the camera password, and also do any detailed camera configuration that's not available via the NVR 'proxied' camera configuration, if you enable 'Virtual Host' under NVR Network Advanced Configuration | Other
Then use the links in the right-hand column of the NVR Camera Configuration page to access the camera web GUI directly.
