Not sure if this has been discussed yet, I just got it in my email.
I had tried the hacked firmware a while ago and it was pretty unstable. Will try this soon just for grins. Sounds like it won't be maintained much.

From the web site:
"
We don't have the resources to keep developing two branches of firmware for Wyze Cam v2 and Wyze Cam Pan. This means that the RTSP branch will be upgraded infrequently. Using the RTSP firmware will prevent the camera from supporting any future functionality additions, such as A.I. for Human/Animal/Vehicle recognition, event video tagging, further stability improvements, and bug fixes.

The currently available firmware is the final version that was being tested in beta. A small percentage of users reported occasional connection drops and mild frame skipping. We are still in the process of collecting more information and troubleshooting. Please keep this in mind when deciding whether to use RTSP. Once we're in a position where we can confidently say these issues have been fixed, we'll push out an updated version of the firmware."

Yes, some details over here. Wyze Cam - Usable with Blue Iris?

I am definitely seeing lots of dropped connections, but hey, it works. Slightly better than the hacked firmware for sure. Nice that they're trying.

Yeah, seems almost a flakey as the hacked firmware, but yeah, nice that they're even considering it.

flakey?
I have been using 2 cams for about a week with BI ands RTSP and they have been rock solid. No dropped connections observed so far. So much so that I am starting to think a wifi cam might not have to be unilaterally rejected as not worthy.

The official RTSP firmware does 1080p, which the hacked firmware does not.

Is your PTZ working and if so what are your settings?

RTSP does not support PTZ like ONVIF, so no, not working

I think you are one of the lucky ones, bunch of people stating on the Wyze forum that it keeps dropping RTSP connection and tech support is looking into the issue.

I assume you are using the phone app and your cams have access to the internet. I isolate my cams from the internet. I bought one for the fun of it.

I used an android emulator and the Wyze app connected to the internet to set it up, then moved it over to my isolated network and it drops RTSP connection randomly on Blue Iris and even with VLC. After unplug/plug power, Blue Iris sometimes connects back up, but most of the time, I need to kick-start it by using VLC. I'm thinking one of the problem is its trying to call "home" and drops the connection if it can't...

Update from Tech Support:
Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP)

How do you set up the Wyze Cam 2 on the BI side?

Note that you can also turn on the UDP/RDP option with port 7100. If you have more than one, increment the port by 100 (i.e. 7200).

I just got my first Wyze cam up and running on my Blue Iris system last night, and I'm quite impressed at the price point! Is this a substitute for a PoE Dahau Starlight? Of course not, and I'll leave my more critical applications with cameras like those. That being said, the Wyze cam fills a certain niche that will only serve to enhance the already great flexibility of Blue Iris. For instance, I want a camera to monitor my 3D printer, and the Wyze cam is absolutely perfect for that! The form factor is also incredible as well, which makes the wife approval factor much higher in certain locations around the house.
