New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

Just got the RCA version of this doorbell. Has anyone mounted it to vinyl siding? Anyone have any suggestions on which mount or block to use? Maybe something interchangeable with next/ring or any other brand?
I have a RCA HSDB2 doorbell and just reused the plastic shim wall mount I made for the 1st version of the RCA doorbell. I didn't want to order vinyl block as I wanted small compact footprint as possible.

If you are having issues getting it to be straight with the angles on the siding, you may find you some hard foam and try to cut it to match the contours of the siding and place it between the mount and the siding. Just a thought.

Curious whether the original doorbell button on the vinyl siding was mounted on a box (plastic or metal)?

Anyone having issues with getting stuff from China recently?

I ordered a couple of electronic widgets about a month and a half ago from Ebay. They were shipped quickly and ended up sitting on the West Coast for a time then shipped to Chicago and now here waiting for 3 weeks for delivery from USPS.

For a UK perspective, I ordered a DS-7608NI-I2/8P off Aliexpress to the UK, first seller didn't ship for 2 months from the start of the outbreak, had to make a claim and get a refund. Second seller promised same day ship, but it took 10 days for DHL to pick it up and then I got stung with a 40% customs charge on the package to the UK, but it did clear customs quickly as I don't think they bothered to look at it. I think the issues with the couriers as opposed to anything else. The second seller did say they were having lots of problems with customs paperwork tho.

A couple of days ago i ordered a new phone display and some other stuff from Aliexpress. Normally it takes about 1,5/2 weeks to get it here. When looking at the updates that should still be possible.

Well, it looks like my DB1 failed partially.
Everything seems to work like it should. I can see the rtsp stream (in VLC and my NAS). I can log into the DB1 via BC. When the DB1 is pressed the app give a message. That all seems OK.
What's not OK is that the DB1 doesn't activate the doorbell when pressed. After pressing the blue ring starts to blink slowly a few times and returns to solid after a few seconds (i guess that's also OK).

What did i further check:
The transformer seems OK/voltage is there
I disconnected the power a few times. No improvement.
I gave the DB1 a reset (via BC) and reconfigured it from scratch which makes no difference (@alexdelprete; only the partial restoration works from the BC; the complete restoration gives an error).
I shorted the DB1 and the doorbell works/rings. So the doorbell works and it seems that the DB1 is faulty.

Has anybody suggestions what else can be tested?
At the moment the DB1 is disconnected. Lets see what happens after a few hours without power.

Thanks for the suggestion. My wife wasn't pleased with the mounting block options available at Menards/Lowe's either. I found a person on Etsy who 3d prints a variety of diff mounts for siding. He didn't have one for any of these cameras though so I figured it was going to be mounting block or nothing. I showed the wife pictures of your shim mount and she approved,so that's likely the route that I'll be going. Thanks!

You did install the power-kit right? And what kind of transformer do you use Voltage/Power[VA] ?

Except whethat the DB1 doesn't make the doorbell ring. If i press the DB1 the blue ring start to blink slowly and return solid after a few seconds (i guess that also normal).

Yes, the powerkit is installed.
The transformer is this one: Beltrafo 15VA

Transformer cabled for 24V output? Did you check on the mobile app if chime config (mechanical/electronic/etc.) is ok?

Wondering what you would see across the doorbell terminals to the AC transformer when pressing the button using a VOM?

Even though it is partially working it sounds like some sort of current / voltage issue which as above mentioned could be related to your transformer or powerkit.

Well it was a good idea. Guess I never noticed but I have double lap 4.5" dutch siding which means each piece is approx 4.5" in tall. About 2.5" of that is totally flat, the problem is the other 2" is the part that contains the drop back against the wall so it's much less gradual than your standard siding. I cut some door shims but I'm not sure i can make something work as the rise on them is too gradual. I might have to find another Object/Material to make the mount out of that has steeper angle.
Sure wish i had a 3D printer :)

The DB1 and the relay that activates my doorbell is hookup to the 12 VAC. Which has always worked fine.

I think they removed the chime type selection a few version of the (Ezviz) app ago. What's suspisious is that the Ezviz app just recently got updated (V4.3.1.0424).
Below are the options visible, no chime type selecton.

DavidL is a great guy, He and his family will be in my prayers...

He guys, I am missing DavidL now for over a week. Even no likes. In these times that makes me worrying. After all he is the godfather of this thread. Has anyone heard from him through another channel?

I had the same thoughts a couple days ago!

David PM'd me yesterday relating to missing the folks here on the forum. ;)

DavidL is doing fine and has been caught up a bit in some personal stuff with his family that is occupying much of his time away from the forum.

Thanks for letting us know!

@Jack007,
Use the Hk, or, Guarding Vision app to check chime selection
