New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

So here is my question, since it is known that EZVIZ is a Hikvision owned Company, why do you guys think Hikvision removed their App off of Google Play Store? Here is an interesting article that may help explain why? The 3 mid-western millennial girls? :)

Ezviz is not the American company it is portrayed to be. It is a brand of a PRCcompany, Hikvision, primarily owned by the PRC government.

So the warning that Killerjay got, I assume is only for the Hikvision/EZVIZ cloud accounts, correct? In other words, Guarding Vision, RCA, LaView ONE Apps should not be effected right?

I utilize an old Hikvision app called iVMS-4500 via VPN to see live video or recorded video and audio and get a text is someone rings the doorbell (and ZM mobile app if needed).

If it helps, I am running EZVIZ DB1 with the latest EZVIZ firmware and recording 24/7 to BI (latest release). I have the EZVIZ app on my Android to talk with bell pushers. I do see occasional drop outs where no signal is picked up but these last seconds. I do not record to the EZVIZ cloud.

Just saw this on Newegg.com, noticed Alexa and Google support. Why can't they add Google support to my LaView ONE?

This might have been asked before, but here its two versions of the Ezviz, the Ezviz DB1that seems to be the one that is spoken about here, and another one Ezviz DB2 with a battery (I dont know if its any other difference than a battery). Is the DB2 known in this thread and firmware supported, or is it the DB1 that is the one I should go with?

Can't speak for DB2 nor it's firmware, but you are right DB1 is the supported Doorbell here...
 
One more question, as Ezviz is the only available version here, and going to use blue iris as recorder and a ZigBee trigger in the chime for smart home, is it any benefit to upgrade to another firmware or stick with the brand one? I did see some bricked with firmware updates, but maybe user error?

If update if suggested, what firmware is considered the most stable and complete?

EZVIZ firmware does not support ONVIF, this is why we change firmware. The latest Hikvision or LaView firmware is what most here run on their DB1s for ONVIF support. The ZigBee trigger a lot here use is the SAGE sensor ($5 on eBay), works with Hubitat and Smart Things hubs.
If my memory serves me right, we have had no DB1 bricks.

Personally the Hikvision Video Doorbell (Nelly version) is my second venture to a wireless camera. I initially purchased and used the Ring doorbell. I am using the last revision of Hikvision firmware with it and do not utilize any cloud connected mobile apps with it.

The wireless Hikvision does RTSP, ONVIF and JPG which integrates fine here with my legacy Leviton HAI OmniTouch touchscreens, newer automation touchscreens and current Amazon Show devices. Most important for me was that it integrated with legacy automation and security here and it does and I am not dependant on cloud apps or cellular phone here for CCTV, automation and security. I have historically only used Zoneminder (I am more a linux person) and DVR (linux firmware) for some 20 plus years now.

The wireless video doorbell technology is moving so fast these days that it is hard to keep up. It is smaller, faster and better today than even one year ago.

Under this subtopic (New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera - started August 18, 2018) on the IPCamtalk forum one doorbell camera is primarily discussed which is Hikvision manufactured and sold under various names with different apps. As mentioned above the FAQ related to this doorbell camera is post #101. It is difficult to write which other video doorbell is "better" as they all have their unique and common features and today the prices have fallen much over the years.

Thanks for the replies. Sorry for probably asking a question replied a million times, but a 223 page thread got a bit confusing. Then I will upgrade it to hkvision and bought some SAGE sensors on ebay. Lets hope the doorbell with work with the 8-12v norwegian transformers, but guess I should not be too optimistic even if the specs say it should work

It probably will not work with an 8-12v AC transformer. I had to update my 10 VAC transformer to work with the Hikvision doorbell and it worked fine with the Ring Doorbell.

The only standard here in the US has been the use of an AC transformer with an AC doorbell chime. The voltages have been different here in the last 40 or so years for said transformers.

Not wanting to knock Hikvision here but they didn't design the doorbell camera to work with any type of tranformer as it is evident here in the US with folks purchasing the Hikvision doorbell camera and having to update their transformers to work with the doorbell camera. IE: the specifications are incorrect.

I did guess that, even the specs say 7vac, but I bought a ring before, and it included a 24vac transformer (possible to choose between 12,16 or 24). I guess the best is to just use the 24vac setup? I was under the impression "everyone" in the US used 16vac transformers, but in europe "everyone" use 8-12vac transformers - thats why ring is a hazzle in europe

Would it be possible to bypass the chime, and just use the sage sensor? With smart home I dont really need the chime to trigger, and with that I might would be able to get away with not replacing the transformer? How would that work connection wise if ever?

Yes. It's been done a few times here and posted in the Hikvision doorbell thread.

I configured the Hikvision Video Doorbell in the house only connected to an AC Transformer in the house. Thinking I used a 16VAC transformer to test it.

Just took an old computer power cable, cut it and stripped the ends of it and connected it to the transformer and connected the low voltage ac side directly to the doorbell.

Thinking I posted a drawing on the wiring. It is an easy way to set up the doorbell inside of the house.

I have left the chime in place here but have two Elk circuits which are doorbell circuits. One is an Elk 930 doorbell circuit board and the other is an Elk 960 debounce board.

The two boards utilize 12VDC from the alarm panel. IE: have 4 wires going from the doorbell to the alarm panel. One pair is 12VDC alarm panel voltage and the other is for the zone. (have 48 zones on the OmniPro 2 panel). This is legacy now as everything is wireless.

Here have been automating for some 20 years plus now. (started though in the late 1970s) I have been using the Leviton OmniPro 2 combo panel since it was introduced in the early 2000's and Homeseer automation software since the late 1990s (Windows) such that the "doorbell" is a zone on my alarm panel and the doorbell sound is replicated to the automation server in the form of Microsoft SAPI.

That said also used to use an outdoor modified (to IP) Optex combo PIR and camera on my front door. This was wired to the CCTV system and wired to the alarm panel. Today also utilize Home Assistant and utilize still today X10, UPB, ZWave and Zigbee stuff plus lately been using MQTT and modded WiFi firmware switches.

Is not bypass kits included in the doorbell packages as with the ring doorbell pro? (the ring have a bypass unit in the package), or is it possible to just buy something that I can mount inside the chime and unplug the wires from the chime to that?
