Hello. Thanks for such an informative forum! I have a lot of questions but I'll try to keep it brief (if possible).

I have a semi-old 4 camera system right now with three CNB vandal resistant dome cameras, possibly model # VFL-20S/VFL-21S http://www.cnbtec.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1235 (one CNB above front door, one CNB in front of house by garage/driveway, one CNB on east side of house) and one wireless Lorex LW2231 http://www.amazon.com/Lorex-LW2231-Wireless-Security-Camera/dp/B00D3MJ152 (in backyard). All of them are connected to a Bolide SVR9000S/T4 DVR http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...4_4_Channel_H_264_Compression_Standalone.html.

I would like to upgrade the cameras to one Huisun Mini PTZ 10X 2MP bullet http://www.aliexpress.com/item/HUIS...-CMOS-Sensor-security-camera/32378494732.html (in backyard) and one Dahua SD22204T-GN 4X 2MP dome http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/sd22204t-gn-1046.html (in front of house by garage/driveway) or possibly the EYEsurv ESIP-PTZmicro http://www.nellyssecurity.com/camer...atherproof-mini-ptz-with-4x-optical-zoom.html which seems like the same exact camera. I would also like to add more cameras in the future.

Please forgive my ignorance for the following questions:
1) Will I need a NVR for the new setup or will the old DVR work for everything?
2) Is it possible to have one system (2 old cameras) with a DVR and another system (2 new cameras) with a NVR?
3) If a NVR is needed would I need to buy a hard drive for it or could I use the hard drive from the DVR?
4) Would I need a POE switch for the NVR?
5) Would Blue Iris work with this setup (2 new cameras)? If so, would I still need an NVR or POE switch?
6) How often do you have to pay for Blue Iris? Monthly, yearly, once?
7) What kind of wires/plugs etc. would be needed?
8) I've probably overlooked a lot so please fill me in on anything else.

Hopefully that's not too confusing.
Thank you.

welcome to the ofrum.
You will need a new NVR or pc with recording softweare
you can buy a hybrid NVR that can support analog, but its silly, because the analog us super low res and a waste of time.
you can use the hard drive from the DVR however its likely too small to support many ip cameras, buy a WD purple drive.
some NVR's have poe built in others do not
blue iris will work with the new setup - buy a 300 hp elitedesk i5-4590 (make sure any system you buy is at least haswell fourth generation)
Blue iris is 60 dollars. There is no subscription. For the 60 dollars you get 1 year of email support and free minor updates. If you wish, you can buy extended support for 30 dollars a year which includes major revisions for free has well.
ethernet
Based on your questions, I suggest you do more research and learn about ip cameras before you take a plunge.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions fenderman. I really appreciate it. Luckily I'm not in a hurry so I will definitely wait to take the plunge and learn more. This forum is helping a lot with that. Thanks again!

Hikvision do Turbo HD dvr's which can use standard Analog, HD Analog (TVI, called Turbo HD by them) and IP cameras.

The most affordable ones are the HGHI and HQHI. The more expensive models allow you to disable analog channels for unlimited IP

ds-7204hghi-sh, 4 channel analog/tvi + 1 ip camera (max 12fps at 1080p, max bit rate 6k, 1 hdd)
ds-7208hghi-sh , 8 channel analog/tvi + 2 ip camera (max 12fps at 1080p, max bit rate 6k, 1 hdd)

ds-7204hqhi-sh, 4 channel analog/tvi + 2 ip (max 30fps at 1080p, max bit rate 10k, 1 hdd)
ds-7208hqhi-sh, 8 channel analog/tvi + 2 ip ( max 30fps at 1080p, max bit rate 10k, 2 hdd)

Thanks for the info spixel! I'll look into those Hikvision Turbo HD dvr's. I'm still tossing around ideas in my head so that info you sent is great to have. Thanks again!
