Hikvision Ds-2CD2087G2 8mp ColorVu on top vs. Annke NC400 4mp NightChroma bottom.

This was after 9pm. Complete darkness. Impressed by both. Really impressed by the Annke $80 price tag. Next I'll get a face in the pictures. Pro/guru comments welcome. How do these really compare with each other?

You are comparing a 8mp cam to 4. Annke is using an inferior sensor and is using a low aperture lens to compensate. Take some actual video and you will see why it's $80...

As above, where the difference likely will appear is with motion. It's fairly easy to get an impressively bright static image. But by the time that you get the shutter speed on the Annke set fast enough to capture motion well it's not going to look anything like that.

The Hikvision has a much better 1/1.2 sensor. Also has on-board AI features.

Edit to add:

Even the Hikvision likely will require added light to do motion well. You've got a lot of nice white reflective areas in the background there so shouldn't take a lot to light it up fairly well.

I didn't mean to imply the Annke is just as good as the Hik. While it's not up to par as a real security solution, I'm happy with it to see what my dogs are barking at late night. The Hik will be pointed at the driveway and back door. I'm very happy with the upgrade. My old 1080P cams were toys in comparison. Thanks for the comment.
