as long as you keep your video bitrate under say 600-700Kbps it'd probably work allright, thats a pretty low bitrate for 720p even w/VBR but I suppose if it was just a few FPS tha'd work.

Ok guess ill try that... I hate Hikvision... as of now I didn't know that the cameras set passwords according to NVR in plug and play

If you disconnect cameras and change Nvr password... the cameras get locked out

I forgot my Nvr password and got it reset by Hikvision using export key etc.. damn tedious process... and now two cameras are locked out on the old password that I used to test the Nvr

Again connect camera online wait for hikvision to send the encrypt.xml file run it and pray it works

Also what differance would I see in using p2p and connecting to nvr using a public ip and spending that money?

Does the camera have a connection to the internet? As the file has to be sent to Hikvision and the camera stays connected till I import new file but if camera has no internet connectivity it wont work
