hi, i recently purchased two 4431emp-ase and soon to add another one. That would be three ip cameras total, 2x 6mm 4431 and 1x 12mm 4431. I dont want to use blue iris because i will no longer be home and my parents will be monitoring the cameras. If there's an issue, it would be easier to manage with simply a NVR.

I wont be adding more than 4 cameras because 3 is enough to fully cover my property. I would like a NVR that is fairly cheap and has just enough resources for the 3 cameras to run smoothly. I was looking at the 5208 suggested by a user here. Are there better alternatives?

Would a 4108 do just fine?

HI Newbie,

Are those Chinese market cameras?

There have been some reports of potential issues with Chinese Market cameras and NVRs - I am uncertain of the status with that, so you will want to check on it.

HI @NewbieCasanova

If you picked them from Andy he has the international models available - so the following NVRs would be good options

NVR4108-8P-4KS2 ( or newer )
NVR4208-8P-4KS2 ( for 2 HDDs )
or the
NVR5208-8P-4KS2 or NVR5216-16P-4KS2 ( or newer )

I like the pro version more ( the NVR5xxx models ), and I like the 16P version as it was only a bit more than the 8P version.

If you are planning to get 7+ cameras go with the 16 port version as the NVR will have more processing power compared to the 8 port version.

HI Newbie,

You'd have to double check that. Recall reading it did, then another firmware update removed some features, .. so I'm unclear of the exact status.

If you find out a solid answer, please share it here.
