Hi everyone, thanks in advance for any help

I have a NVR Hikvision
DS-96128NI-I24
with Firmware: v4.1.11 build 171204

I have downloaded from
03 Super I » [96128 96256NI-I NVR] 128,256-channel Super NVR » V4.51.110
latest version available, version:
NVR_X50_BL_ML_NEU_V4.51.110_211222

unzip, copy to pendrive digicap.iav and go front to NVR via USB and VGA direct display connected.
Upgrade firmware menu and uploaded.
It took lot of time seeing message: "Backing up system" and then "Upgrading".

Reboot automatically... and then died.

No more image. Only power LED and TR/TX in front, no more lights.

I tried RS232 back panel but can't see any activity.
I also dowloaded hikvision tftpd git script. Tried to upload a new firmware, and nothing...

Im worried about how to recover, also i notice that all firmware of [96128 96256NI-I NVR] 128,256-channel Super NVR is in format .iav and not .dav or .mav ?

What have i done wrong ? Any help?

I have the same one and updated to the Las test firmware. Unplugged the power wait 5 minutes

Have you used that interface before and did it work OK?
It needs a null modem cable as opposed to a straight RS232 cable.
Nothing will show when using a straight cable.
hi, thanks for your tip

i have 2 nvr of the same type and model. when i connect the usb to rs232 with that cable on working nvr, i can see the terminal and interact. that let me think that the cable is the correct one

i also used hikvision-tftpd on git and try to capture packages via tcpdump but i cant see anything :/

That seems to be confirmation that your cable is good.
Pity - it might have been a way to interact with the device.

If there is no 'tftp updater handshake' at power on - I don't think there is much hope of recovery.
Have you checked that the power supply is normal?

Not sure about what IP use in hikvision-tftpd script of git, i will do more resarch about it and try tcpdump if it is 192.0.0.128 or 172.9.18.80, but also let me thinking format of digicap. The firmware of NVR_X50_BL_ML_NEU_V4.51.110_211222 is digicap.iav, never seeing that format here in threads or documentation
