Hi, trying to help a buddy and this is his setup.
4 IPC-HDW5231R-ZE wired directly to the NVR
NVR 5216-16P-4KS2
But he wants to run another 4 cables in his shop (which is 200' away from the house) and only run 1 cat 6 cable from the NVR to a POE switch in the shop, and then tie 4 other cameras into the POE switch.
When we plug in more than 1 camera, they do not show up in the NVR. Is this setup possible?

Yes, not only possible, its one of the primary advantages of network cameras and recorders. It wont automatically populate in the NVR. You need to manually setup the cams.

That's what I thought too, but with 2+ cameras in the POE switch, only 1 is showing up in the nvr.

how are you adding the cameras to the NVR? you need to manually set them up in the NVR, it wont automatically add.

That's probably the issue, we're just plugging them in and the NVR is automatically discovering one
