Thanks for clarifying on the later generation SFF lack of dual 3.5" HDD capacity. I recall your posts that the extra bay in the earlier generation Elitedesks was for a card reader not HDD; was hoping the other posts about later gen HP SFFs having added HDD capability were correct.

Shipping on the system appears to be almost $90 for WA; raises price to $460 plus another $50 for OS/BI SSD. Will start checking more regularly for deals. Thanks.

all generations sff lack a second 3.5. Despite the misleading specs that refer to a second 3.5 for a sd card reader.

Still looking for a computer. Would like two 3.5 drives. Haven't seen towers on ebay particularly with sixth gen i7s or better. So focusing on HP G3 & G4 SFF models presuming they can hold two 3.5s: EliteDesk 800 G3 i7-7700 or EliteDesk 800 G4 i5-8500. Will confirm with HP before buying anything. Price is higher than what's been found by others. One HP Outlet ProDesk similar to the latter Ebay offering is $648. Not surprisingly, a similarnew EliteDesk G4 SFF i5-8500 is several hundred more (towers $1000 more). Not seeing any relevant BF discounts; are they to be expected?
You can bookmark a search on Craig's list and check it often. Historically quite a bit of hardware changes hands after Christmas.

I disagree, at least HP EliteDesk 800 G2 SFF has one 2,5” and two 3,5” hard disk place. You can connect 3 sata devices. If you have dvd-rom, you can disconnect that.

Here you can see how they are mounted. Only thing I have to get for 2,5" installion is M3 metric isolation mounting guide screws. The previous post had a link elitedesk service pdf.

No need to buy, have one already. It is possible that some regions have different cage. I have "Euro" model.

If you are able to mount it securely, please post images. I found an unit in my closet with no hole in the faceplate for the sd card reader that looks like yours so perhaps that is the distinction or it varies by some other spec, I will check one of the other machines. It looks like it wont fit the standard m3 hp isolation screws. In the HP images you posted it looks like the secondary drive is using something like this 6 X Hard Drive Mounting Screws / Guides Dell Vostro 410, 420, 200s, 220s, I 530s | eBay.
If these can hold 2x3.5 that would be a huge benefit over the slightly smaller dells.

I see this EliteDesk 800 G2 for ~$425 but how can I tell if it will securely hold two 3.5 drives? So I still lean toward the $450 Lenovos listed earlier if someone can feedback if they're decent machines at a decent price.

I'm getting a sense that the Lenovo's are seen as second fiddle to the EliteDesks even though the latter's dual drive capacity is not a certainty. Is that correct?

Here are more pictures. I finally found HP M3 isolation screws to install 2,5" ssd to the intended location. There is some installation screws 6-32 in frame to install second 3,5" hard drive. Primary hard disk place need to use 6-32 isolation screws, normally they game with preinstalled hard drive. Now there is installed 2,5" ssd , 3,5" 4TB and 3,5" 1TB
