OMG Thermal!

I call my Dead Beat Bitch the "Children's Mother". Forged name on the multiple credit cards,
a storage locker full of new clothes but, causing the kids to suffer, crossed the line.
You know it isn't a conspiracy theory when this many guys in one thread have all had the same thing happen to them in the past.........

So wanted to do a follow up to my Cold/Hot Spotting issue (It was User Error). What I found is using Icefire is different than all the rest of the color palates, it shows Cold and Hot and turning Off Cold / Hot Spot has no effect...

The IVS triggers from Andy's thermal camera don't show up on my 5216-4ks2 NVR. It's just constant green bar. The triggers show up on the camera's SD card and BI. The record schedule for the cameras on the NVR is set to 24x7. Does this work ok for anybody else? Am I missing something obvious?

Our 10 mo. old chasin' rabbits...

It was pitch black out there, I saw nothing till I went in a looked at the Thermal footage...

And IVS/Intelligent recording on the NVR schedule is also 24/7?

Assuming this picture is correct, it's set for 24x7. It does record the video, just no IVS triggers. I assume the IVS triggers are recorded on yours?

Well it did, I gave thew camera away so cant get hands on right nbow.

My NVR has full time as well as IVS/Intel and MD all enabled/recording for all channels

I forget, is there a "Record" checkbox on the IVS rule that you maybe forgot to check?

Do you have a SD-Card, are IVS Events being recorded on it? I just checked my Thermal and IVS looks pretty straight forward in setting up even though I don't use it.

I guess you can Snapshot both channels even though I picked Channel 1 to add a Rule for IVS...

I have an SD card and events are recorded on it. I made a change in the NVR config that may solve the problem. I have to wait for some animals to walk through to see the result.

Problem solved.

The short version:
User error. Thanks bigred for encouraging me to look in the mirror for the cause. In the Storage menu, IVS recording wasn't enabled.

The excuses version:
(1) This is the first time I can remember that IVS wasn't enabled in the storage menu by default when I added a camera.
(2) I had a hard time finding the storage menu. I get confused as heck with the UI having access to some settings from the main screen, and some from the upper left pulldown. Learned another lesson the hard way.

I'm still on the fence about a new NVR vs. BI. When I thought the NVR wasn't working right with the thermal camera the decision tilted in favor of BI. Now it's even again. Each one has its own bugs that the other doesn't, it's own outstanding behavior that the other doesn't, and it's own unique pain-in-the-butt properties. I don't want to, but might end up with both forever out of decision paralysis. This will of course add more carbon to the atmosphere.

So can BI and a proprietary NVR work with the same CAM? If the CAM is connected to the NVR, just thinking out loud here, how can BI get to the CAM, on the flip side can the CAM be accessed by the NVR if it resides on another network?

Curious minds want to know :)

Yes you can use the NVR as a "POE switch" and feed the camera feed to BI.

You simply add camera and type in the ip address of the NVR and user and password and hit find/inspect and then the channel for the camera and repeat for each camera.

Thanks, so each channel is the number of ports on the NVR? So the Thermal would take up two channels, correct?

I don't have BI going through the NVR. BI connects to each camera via ONVIF. BI and NVR don't interfere with each other at all, they are totally independent. I'm probably squeezing the heck out of the network.
