Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

And to add on, over 6,000 elderly people dead in those nursing homes
Would like to see Cuomo argue with Trump over this f-up...

Hydroxychloroquine: An Open Letter to Our Community and Beyond

To our friends and colleagues around the country and globe:

We believe wholeheartedly that a mission statement is more than a plaque we hang on a wall, but rather an idea we embed in our hearts and minds that unifies, empowers and enables us to do what we do every day for the people of our communities.

Our mission is to improve people’s lives through excellence in the science and art of health care and healing. For more than 100 years, we have proudly pioneered clinical and scientific breakthroughs that have advanced health care here and abroad.

As an early hotspot for the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen and lived its devastating effects alongside our patients and families. Perhaps that’s what makes us even more determined to rally our researchers, frontline care team members and leaders together in boldness, participating in scientific research, including clinical trials, to find the safest care and most effective treatments. While feeling the same sense of urgency everyone else does to recognize a simple, single remedy for COVID-19, we need to be realistic in the time it takes to fully understand the optimal therapy or combination of therapies required of a new virus we are all trying to contain.

The most well-accepted and definitive method to determine the efficacy of a treatment is a double-blind, randomized clinical trial. However, this type of study takes a long time to design, execute and analyze. Therefore, a whole scientific field exists in which scientists examine how a drug is working in the real world to get as best an answer as they can as soon as possible. These types of studies can be done much more rapidly with data that is already available, usually from medical records.

Like all observational research, these studies are very difficult to analyze and can never completely account for the biases inherent in how doctors make different decisions to treat different patients. Furthermore, it is not unusual that results from such studies vary in different populations and at different times, and no one study can ever be considered all by itself.

Our promising Henry Ford treatment study should be considered as another important contribution to the other studies of hydroxychloroquine that describes what the authors found in our patient population. We – along with all doctors and scientists – eagerly support the need for randomized clinical trials.

We also want to point out that scientific debate is a common occurrence with almost every published study. In part, this is what fuels the advancement of knowledge – challenging one another on our assumptions, conclusions and applications to get to a better place for the patients we collectively serve. You can read the original study here and the senior author’s letter to the editor here.

Unfortunately, the political climate that has persisted has made any objective discussion about this drug impossible, and we are deeply saddened by this turn of events. Our goal as scientists has solely been to report validated findings and allow the science to speak for itself, regardless of political considerations. To that end, we have made the heartfelt decision to have no further comment about this outside the medical community – staying focused on our core mission in the interest of our patients, our community, and our commitment to clinical and academic integrity.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Adnan Munkarah, M.D., Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer
Steven Kalkanis, M.D., Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer

Watch as angry (black) residents confront BLM supporters in Chicago

The angry residents of a Chicago suburb confronted the protesters who showed up to demonstrate at a police station.

The BLM protest had moved from Englewood to Chicago’s 7th District police station on Tuesday but then ended in a dramatic confrontation with the area’s residents.

“If you ain’t from Englewood, get the f**k out of here!” one of the residents named as Darryl Smith was heard shouting at the protesters, who he said were not from the community.

“They were… gonna come to Englewood, antagonizing our police, and then when they go back home to the north side in Indiana, our police are bitter and they’re beating up our little black boys,” Smith told reporters on the scene, adding that “we don’t need any outsiders coming and antagonizing.”

Organisers for the BLM said that demonstrators decided to leave following conflict with residents, saying they felt “unsafe.” ...

Peter Schweizer: Hunter Biden needs to testify on Ukraine, China business dealings

Government Accountability Institute President Peter Schweizer in an exclusive interview with Hill.TV called for former Vice President and 2020 White House contender Joe Biden's son to testify before the U.S. Senate about business dealings with Ukraine and China.

"What I’ve called for simply is for the Senate to call former second son Hunter Biden to come and testify and people look into this," Schweizer said during a lengthy interview on Hunter Biden's business dealings. "We’re talking about large deals and large sums of money...it involves countries like China, which are America’s chief rival on the global stage."

The researcher provided an overview of Hunter Biden's alleged business dealings with Ukrainian energy company Burisma and the Chinese government in a recent New York Post op-ed that details payments of more than $3 million to Hunter Biden's company during a 14-month period when his father was the point person on Ukraine policy for the Obama administration.

"In the case of the Ukraine, the very energy company that was paying Hunter Biden millions of dollars was under investigation in the Ukraine for corruption. Ukrainian officials have claimed that Joe Biden pressured them to suspend or end that investigation. That’s in fact what the Ukraine did," Schweizer said in a summary of his findings.

NCDHHS admits that 221,444 Covid tests were double-counted

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina public health officials have announced a major reporting error in the number of coronavirus tests conducted since the start of the pandemic.

North Carolina previously reported having more than 2 million COVID-19 tests performed.

Officials now say that is 200,000 more than were actually performed. They blame LabCorp.

DHHS Secretary Mandy Cohen says the company gave different numbers when it reported electronically and manually.

She noted the error doesn’t affect data on key metrics such as the number of confirmed cases and deaths.

LabCorp is one of two nationwide lab chains that are the backbone of COVID testing in the United States.

:clap:Not Surprised  According to North Carolina, "We strive to be the best in everything even if that means trying to have the highest COVID-19 case count!" This statement to the US as well. Again, we are number one, and proud to be number one in every category; with the exception being poverty; but that's okay, we'll get there as well...soon --- According to congress ;)

pun intended
