Pretty sure either one would work. The HP has Windows 10. You could go about upgrading your windows 7 and all that jazz but starting off with Windows 10 might save you a headache. I would prefer 8GB of ram, but adding another 4GB stick to the Lenovo would be very inexpensive considering its DDR3. Both would require an additional HDD for actual video storage. Other than that they are pretty much the same.

Edit: If you do decide on the Lenovo, this one is a better deal with the rebate. these are older processors. Look at a 5th generation processor, look at EBAY

You will need to upgrade to a small ssd (120GB) and add a WD 4TB Purple drive.

There is only a 2-3 year difference between all these processors mentioned.

3rd Gen. - 2012
4th. Gen. - 2013
5th. Gen. - 2015

You would not notice much of a performance difference between any of them. Biggest difference would be in the integrated graphics, but even then its only slight. No matter what you choose your looking at 4-7 year old technology if you go with any of these options.

Is there something better for a similar price out there. I am looking to go Blue Iris for the same or less than an NVR. Are there any particular sellers on eBay that have frequently good deals?

I was looking, yesterday, on FleaBay and found a couple of Dell i5-6th generation machines for around $225...with free shipping and Win10 Pro. Check the Dell store as well.

Better choice, but they don't mention if it's Windooohs 10 Home or Pro.

Check around on CL, et al. Sometimes there are local recyclers selling off-lease Optiplex and EliteDesk PCs. Or, local business selling off some older stuff.

A lot depends on your local area unless you order online. Around here the "hundred-dollar" PCs with any sort of horsepower that I sometimes see mentioned are damn near as mythical as Unicorns.

I'm running a i3 4030u 1.9ghz 6gb ram with 5 cameras and CPU avg. Is 16-26% and 550mb ram used. i5 and up should really fly.
