Hi yall
Currently I'm using a 8700k with BI , to power 4 x 8mp 15fps cameras , on h265 , continuous recording , direct to disk . All the usual CPU saving techniques.
It runs well , usually 10% cpu .
Now I wish to add possibly another 3 cameras but also make a dedicated BI pc in a 2u case. So about 870 mp/s.
Does one think a 10100 would handle this or at least a 10400 ?

If your current system runs at 10 percent why would you need a new processor? With the new substream function your current cpu can handle many times your load. Continuous recording is not related to saving cpu cycles.

I should have mentioned, the 8700k is my everyday pc , so I'm wanting to separate the 2 functions. Thus going to build a monitorless pc i can put into a server rack or something similar.

The proposed system would just sit there in most cases at the windows login , ( set BI as a service)
Do you think i could get away with 10100 or id need a 10400

go with the i5. Headroom is always preferred. You can buy a complete i5-8500 system for 300 bux
