See title: can your Dahua NVR with POE perform a "local port forward" trick (eg http://nvr-ip:10081)?

By doing so, you'll get to the WebServices page of the camera on Channel 1. Port 10082 opens Channel 2 etc.

As this works for some, we want to understand why it does not work for others.

Thanks for your participation!

If you change the http port on the NVR to "10081" or whatever port, you can just access the nvr thru that url.

I can access my NVR for example via http://nvr-ip:53240 without issues.

The OP is talking about accessing the cameras web interface not the NVR. What he is saying is he's able to access the camera itself even though it's directly connected to the NVR.

Ok, now it's clear. The OP edited his post after my reply. At first he didn't mention accessing the camera. Thats why i assumed he was talking about the nvr itself :D

Wasn't this a feature added in a relatively recent firmware version?

Yes, a few months back I believe.
I recently purchased a N54B3P, and upgraded the FW with the latest (6/2018) and was wondering about accessing the cameras that are connected to the NVR POE ports. I have been trying all the techniques provided by the members of IPcamtalk, but to no avail. I just wish I knew a little more about the "internal switch" of the NVR?

Back in the days, there was a posting of someone who hacked into the "linux" inside the NVR and was able to open these portforwards internally. If I remember correctly, they reset automatically on reboot, so that may (or may not) be an option to you. My 5216-16P, as written in OP, does keep its settings out of the box.

I've seen on the web interface of newer firmware there's an Internet Explorer icon on the camera management ("Registration") page that takes you directly to the cameras web interface.
