Possible to recover "international" firmware?

I built a system to monitor my property last year. Currently 13 Hikvision DS-2CD2xx2 cams of various flavors monitored by Zoneminder 1.28 on Centos 6.7. Had them all running on 5.2.0 "international" firmware. I should have left well enough alone... :moody:

I tried to update one of my cams to 5.3.0 from the US website yesterday, got the dreaded language mismatch error. After a lot of searching I managed to revert to 5.2.0 using TFTP, but now the web interface is Chinese only. I'd like to recover all the way back to the multi-language "international" firmware, but I can't find much information on it.

I've read about editing the IEfile.tar.gz on http://www.arden.ie/2014/09/13/how-to-make-hikvision-firmware-v5-2-multilingual/ and watched the video at

but I'm hesitant to poke that deep into my camera's innards. Since I have other cams of the exact same model, could I copy the IEfile.tar.gz from one of them to the cam I buggered? Has anyone tried this?
