Your Deb machine is virtual?
If it, and can u share it, i can check is too.
If you want, or I can create a samba share machine from a stock Deb.

I just bought a DS-2CD2132F-IS running V5.3.0 build 151016 with the same issue. I have an older Windows server with a simple volume that is just under 200GB. The share tests successfully and will format without any errors. The drive never goes online and I can't record to it. What's odd is I used a different camera (grey market version) to create the files/folders. Then disconnected that camera and connected this to the same share. The camera doesn't detect it as online, but when I format the drive it deletes all the folders/files. lol
