Pseudo-Motion Tracking?

I know Blue Iris can't do automatic motion tracking with a PTZ camera. That's very difficult. But has anyone cobbled together their own fake motion tracking?

I've tried a couple of experiments using predefined PTZ camera zones combined with different Blue Iris masks and triggers, hoping to kludge something together. For example, if BI detects motion at the right edge of the image, I'd like it to move to the PTZ preset to the right. Motion near the left edge? Move to the left. Rinse, repeat.

It may be impossible, but before I give up completely I wanted to consult the hive mind to see if anyone's got this to work, even just sort-of.

Would also love to know what has been achieved here. I'd like my dahua 5231 to trigger a PTZ once motion is detected and move the PTZ to the motion detection location. Any results like this?
