Hi All

was working for about a week or so fine. Then last night I see in BI that its not pingable. The lights on my switch also not visible. Model is SD1A203T-GN sorry

I changed the cable out but no joy.

Any thoughts as to why it would just die so suddenly or is there a method I can factory reset or something?

Thanks!

take it down and try with a short cable...did you properly seal the ethernet connection to prevent water damage?

OK, shall try that this evening. Theres no possible water damage, its under a carport thats bone dry and never sees rain. Impossible for water to get there.

did you SEAL the connection? if not despite thinking there is no water ingress, there likely was.

It needs to rain before theres water. This is in a ceiling - let me assure you fenderman there is NO water ingress.

check the camera for burn marks at the ethernet connection and within....ALWAYS seal the connections, always...this is the number 1 cause of failure by inexperienced users.

Will check this. As i said it was working last night, and wasnt this morning. No rain, no consendation, etc. But i shall check.

I terminated the cable myself. As I have with the many thousands of cables I've made over the years and throughout the house.

I most certainly did.

Cable spec is:

  • Unshield category 6 solid cable
  • Cables comply to:ISO9001. CE, FCC, UL, RoHs certified
  • AWG 23 UTP
  • PVC insulation,FR, PVC/LSOH RoSH Jacket.

Anyone can write anything on a box, what is the brand? where did you purchase it from?

The same place I purchased all my cable from, a supplier here in Australia that sells through ebay. Ill monitor it and if it fails rerun another run of cable. Very strange!

The whole run is inside a ceiling cavity, there is 10cm section where it passes through conduit into an insulated garage. Its not exposed at all in any section to the elements and its brand new.

Its powered by a TpLink 8 port gigabit switch which has 4 x PoE ports. Its powering 3 other cameras with no issues, 2 of which are 5231R

One is a Reolink, do you suspect it may be drawing more power than the power budget?
