PTZ6C2M-45X vs PTZ5A4M-25X

Ha - many of us started with a Lorex or worse lol.
At least the camera is Dahua based, although a crippled cheaper version. I always wondered if some of these EOL/Dahua rebrands were able to use Dahua based firmware to remove the Lorex limitations built into their firmware

They used to be able to be flashed with Dahua firmware, but they got wise to that and hard-coded to prevent it. And in recent years Dahua would make a completely different model and chipset than just a simple rebrand to further prevent it.

They definitely do things a bit different in Cali.

And I wonder if they are renters, as the property they are on is unkempt and typical of what a rental property would look like. You know the tenants ain't cutting no "Field of weeds"

I figured someone had done so but they probably posted to the interwebs soon as feat was accomplished, and the manufacturer got wise to it and prevented it from continuing.

I would bet there's still way in and that the firmware can be rewritten, but it would take a bloke MUCH smarter than this one to do so.

It sure was. No plate on the back of the car at all. His marker must have run out of ink.View attachment 218313
You didn't even need a dedicated LPR camera to capture it. And this passes in the good ol' state of Cali? What a wonderful couple.

I guess 20 to 11 at night is a good time to play mechanic. Safety first. Gotta love the hood prop rod.

I agree with the others above. If you don't have much light, the PTZ5AM-25X will work well. Here is an example with no added lights on my driveway--just the PTZ5AM's built-in IR. Also, the beta software of the animal firmware is working very well with this camera.

do you have any more footage with this camera showing its zoom capabilities in day or night?

PTZ5A4M-25X showed up today, but it's late in the day and raining, so it will have to wait for now. One thing I notice is the power supply does not have plugs, but bare wires and the supply is 24 volts which the current power supply for the PTZ out there now is 12 volts. So, it looks like I'll be changing the supply and adding barrel plugs for power, cause I ain't trying to wrestle the thing up there and try and make hard connections to it.

Good thing is the current PTZ mount is exactly the same so that's a plus

Isn’t it powered via the cat6 what do you need the other power supply for?

Yeah, you don't need that power supply if using a POE+ switch or injector. An injector is the easy route if your current switch doesn't support POE+.

The power supply that came with my camera is sitting in the box in the attic.

Any suggestions on the POE injector? I bought one from Amazon last year and it didn't last a week
