In your experience, connecting to the NVR POE ports using an injector in between was not successful? I think I'll just run the included supply and be done with it. That's how the current PTZ camera is set up with no issuesI couldnt get it to work using the NVR PoE ports. I had to use an external switch
Have you tried the camera with the NVR POE ports?
My neighbor is running 2 PTZs just fine off the NVR. Even his old Lorex NVR that he finally replaced with an Andy NVR was running the 2 PTZs.
Yes, all POE switch ports can be used with or without POE equipment on the other end of the link. The ports auto negotiate with the end device if power needs to be sent or not.Just to verify, I can connect the data port to one of the ports on the NVR and the POE/DATA port to the camera?
Ok, just so I understand your connections, the Netgear POE switch is connected to one of the NVR POE ports and your larger PTZ cameras are connected to the Netgear POE switch ports?Using a splitter, no
A simple cheap external switch sitting right on top of the NVR did the trick though.
You need to look up the specs of your NVR. If the ports don't support POE+, then it can't power your camera. You'd have to use an injector or another POE+ switch between the camera and NVR.I just noticed that the current Lorex NVR I'm using has the first 8 ports in green while the second 8 ports are just black, so can we presume it also has POE+ on the first 8 ports?

This part I understand. Does the external switch uplink/data port connect to one of the NVR ports or to your LAN?Top piece - connect incoming cable from camera into the female end, and the two male ends of the device plug into the switch.
Bottom piece- at camera plug male connector of cable going back inside to the single female connector end, and connect two cameras to the dual female end
