Q-See Closing Doors Jan 31st 2021 No More Remote Viewing, Options to fix

Thank you for responding to me. I am not tech savy so it would take me weeks/months to even trying to figure out how to set up remote access. It took me weeks to figure out the QSee went out of business. I think it would be easier for me to buy a Dahua DVR (hopefully, it is not expensive). But I don't know what Dahua DVR model to buy to be compatible with the QSee cameras (QCA7209B) I have. Can you please help with the Dahua DVR model.

I do not know the DVR models that Dahua carries, please see what Andy posted - he is a trustworthy source for Dahua OEM cameras and NVRs for many of us on this forum.

Thank you

i think those models only some 2mp or 4mp. Just get a dahua 16CH XVR

Hi,

@ EmpireCandy - Are you Andy that someone is referring to. Sorry. This is way out of league with computer terminology. can you send me a link where I can buy at amazon or anywhere that is trustable. Thank you again.

I had a QC908 and just threw it in the trash along with all eight cameras. It's BNC not IP so as far as I know you cannot remote view without going with a home VPN.
The brand NVR 5216-16-4KS2E - they says "remote had been disconnected and was not able to activate" on amazon. Please help to suggest another model that is compatible with my QSee QCA7209B cameras that I can activate an app on my phone. Thank you.

Hi @nik12345

Recommend taking a picture of the back of your DVR and sending it to Andy, as the NVR5216-16P-4KS2E is a NVR ( IP PoE cameras ), not a DVR.

Please make certain you send the appropriate info to Andy.

Q-See QCA7209B cameras are BNC and will not work with the Dahua NVR. You need to either use a home VPN through your router or start over.

OpenVPN - you want a VPN that puts you back onto your home IP address network, not a VPN that hides your IP address as that is for porn and illegal streaming LOL...

I installed first the Dahua app iDMSS Plus and then IMOU Life that in essence replicate Q-See Plus app. The serial number was scanned successfully and the camera identified properly. However, I'm not able to add camera to the wi-fi network. The apps properly identify the network but can't connect to the camera. 120 seconds of the search time expires with no connection. IMOU app also offers an alternative method of first connecting the phone to the camera's hotspot. Unfortunately, the phone doesn't see the hotspot/wifi created by the camera. Now I'm at a loss. tried to reset the camera to factory settings but no luck. Any ideas?

FYI -

What you want:
Mobile device to access the NVR / camera video feed.

General Summary of how you want to do it:
1) Do not port forward. Block UPnP, P2P on router.
2) Mobile app that can "read" rtsp feed from your LAN. ( tinycam pro is a example of a 3rd party app, other apps can also work.. )
3) Test mobile app on your WiFi to your NVR on your LAN. If good.. then

if you want remote access:
4) Run OpenVPN or other VPN software on your router.
5) Install OpenVPN or other VPN on your mobile
6) Now test cell phone carrier route to you home .. ( I'm not going do a complete write up, just an executive summary )
7) This should now VPN you into your LAN and you can now run the mobile app that can read the rtsp stream ( tinycam for example )

and there you are.

Note, for me I like my NVR isolated from my LAN, and throw in a couple cheap cloud cameras for the front for mobile access... ( Wyze for example .. ) - NVR is secure and gives me high resolution video.. Wyze gives me remote view of the front if I need it.

Thanks for the reply @mat200

My setup at this point was from doing it using Q-See's method of using their app and getting the cameras onto my WiFi network and view off-site on mobile.
Then I would add them easily to the QC View on Windows 10 to see a large view of all the cameras and for playback.

After Q-See went out of business and killed their app my mobile app does not work BUT the QC View on-site does, BUT I cannot Add any more cameras.

Of which all this happened in the middle of adding more WiFi cameras of which I have a box of them Model QCW2MPSL (no RJ45 plug) style.

I would like to add all of them to QC View on Windows first then deal with having them able to view on my mobile phone.

Don't use QC view on your PC, switch to smart pss and dahua config tool. Easy to add and better.

Smart PSS

Config Tool

Assuming your cameras are Dahua OEM. Post the model number.

You may be out of luck. Those are wifi only. All the wifi cameras I've added including q-see had an option to plug into my network and set up the wifi.
If you can get the the q-see app or qc view to add them you would then need to use open vpn as stated above.

So far, that is my issue. I cannot add the new cameras to my network because the Qsee App is no longer connected to a server.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Q-See WiFi HD Camera Model QCW2MPSL

FYI - this is a Dahua OEM camera.. including info here, so we have it documented as Q-see is out of business as I understand

As this Q-see camera is able to connect to the NVR, you should be able to get the rtsp stream to other servers ( like Blue Iris ) if you are interested.
( if someone wants to, please feel free to start a new How To thread on this camera and connecting it to Blue Iris, or a Dahua OEM NVR, or other recording device )

Hi @DoctorMicro

Yes, you do not want to use the Q-see app as it clearly was configured to connect to Q-see related servers.

1) Basically, you want to access the admin config of the camera and record all the information. ( mac address, user / password, ip address, config info .. )
2) As this camera appears to only be WiFi ( no RJ45 port listed in the specs ), you have to do it WiFi.
3) Once you have determined the info, if you can see the video on the LAN with a app that views rtsp ( you can test with VLC even ).
4) Then test with the mobile app ( again check the configurations ) on the LAN ( can be using WiFi )

Your router should be able to show devices that requested a DHCP address from it.. and you should be able to look up the mac address there.

If you have a Dahua OEM nvr - you can "manually" add the camera with the IP address and user/password info.

and then go see the VPN notes...

Hi @mat200

I think a tread on how to set up the Q-See WiFi HD Camera Model QCW2MPSL would be much needed as there are so many of them out there.

So far I cannot add a New Camera to the network.

I have tried these apps: QC-Plus, Imou LIfe, and DMSS, and non of them will add a new camera to my network, BUT they can scan for the ones that are already setup on the network before Q-See went out of business.

HI @DoctorMicro

Did you access your router admin page to see the DHCP addresses it provided?
Does one of those look like your camera?
