R0 / DS-2CD2x32 BrickfixV2 brick recovery and full upgrade tool - enhanced.

5.4.41 doesn't work for Stage3, it has some different structures from earlier versions.

Generally 5.4.5 is ok, even though that's a big jump in versions, which is generally not recommended.

I have one last camera to sort which is a DS-2CD3132-1. i can't get the Hikvision tftp updater to talk to the camera (i have tried both the EN and CN versions)

How is it powered?
PoE can be a bit troublesome with the tftp updater.

How is it connected to the network?
A direct connection with the PC can be troublesome with the tftp updater.

You should be able to install the brickfixV2 firmware using the web GUI maintenance menu of the camera is not bricked.

I've tired both ways - my bullet cameras worked fine with a poe switch connect directly to my pc. with the 3132 I have tired it on the switch and I have tried it with a separate power supply.
The SADP tool will find it and I can access it that way - but nothing else will

Does the tftp updater window show any test or connecting events?

Is the web GUI still available?
The Hikvision tftp updater is only needed for the initial brickfixV2 firmware load.

Hello alastair

thanks for the tutorial

I have in this moment three cameras:

DS-2CD2335I with v.533 build 150514
another 2CD2032-I with v525 build 141201
and 2CD2332-I with v.540 build 160401

the first and the last one i could change the password with brilliant tool from @bp2008

the problem was 2032 and 2332 I see in settings... UPNP activated...

so my question is ... Should I upgrade the firmwares?

All of them have CH in their serial number..

thanks!

UPnP is available across all the firmware versions.
Best to disable it in the web GUI.
But I think you have a different question -

so my question is ... Should I upgrade the firmwares?
I suppose what you are asking is :
The firmware of 5.4.4 or older has the 'Hikvision backdoor vulnerability', which is why you can reset the password with the @bp2008 tool, or extract the configuration file without authentication.
So - should you do a conversion to EN from CN and update to firmware that does not have the backdoor?
The answer is - if the devices are not in any way accessible from the internet, or other unknown sources, the backdoor should not present a big risk.
The convert / update process is pretty straightforward and many have done it - but it is extra work and does carry a small amount of risk.

hello again!!

thanks for fast reply!

yes i use Blueiris for access to my cameras and a noip domain

i gonna try to convert them..
the proccess is very well done explained

But although the serial number contains “CH” how can i see the Gui web in English?
sorry for basic question..

A CN camera that shows EN menus is probably running a seller-installed 'hacked to English' modified version of firmware.
That's why when people update such a camera with the EN stock firmware, they often 'brick' because the EN stock firmware is designed to not run on a CN camera.

But if i follow your tutorial
At the beginning...

There would be no problem
Because i am converting in a EN version no?

The purpose of the brickfixV2 method is to convert the camera individual as-built data from being a CN camera to an EN camera so that it will take the stock firmware as normal without being bricked.
The EN and CN hardware is no different, just different data applied during manufacturing.
