I have a 32 channel NVR with two hard drives installed. It came with rack mount wings/ears, but no rails. I plan to pick up a 12-15u rack enclosure to be used for a switch, the NVR, and a file server.

Will the NVR weight (11 lbs without drives) be supported adequately using just the front wings/ears? This is the first time that I am using a rack enclosure and would like to make sure I am not going to have issues.

Thanks
Jerold

HI Jerold,

Typically if the product includes just ears then yes, when properly screwed down it should hold well in a rack.

The majority of the weight on the NVR is the hard drives which are at the front of the case, closest to the ears. If you support the network cables coming out the back of the NVR the ears worked just fine for me.
