Hello forum,

In advance I'd like to thank you for any help.

I'm new to the CCTV world and looking to install home surveillance with 8 cameras (prewired with CAT5e).
After some research decided to go with 4k(8mp) cameras.

Looks like Dahua HDW5831R-ZE and HDBW5831R-ZE should work.
Reviews are saying about a problem to make it work with MacOS? and NO SUPPORT from Dahua?
What NVR would be recommended to use?

Regards,
Lunar

More megapixel is not necessarily better.
Use Dahua starlight cameras or Hikvision darkfighter cameras if you need good low light cameras.
Avoid chinese hacked cameras (most ebay, amazon, aliexpress cameras(not all, but most))
If possible use a turret camera , bullet collect spiders, dome collect dirt and reflect light (IR)

Do not mix Chinese cameras and NVR that are HACKED and international that are not hacked. If using NVR use the same manufacture and supplier for the NVR and cameras.

For an NVR get one bigger than you think you will need, so for 8 cameras now get a 16 port. Look at the upload and down load processing bandwidth.

if you are interested in International Dahua cameras, a forum member sells dahua (and some Hikvision) and ships world wide. You can read some of the members recommendations on his service. He also provides cameras to other forum member for evaluation and reviews.
you can email him for a quote, or purchase from his Aliexpress store or his Amazon store. The cameras are fully upgradable, he posts upgarde software when available.

It is Chinese new year and Andy may be slow to respond. This is not normally the case, his service and speed are excellent.

In a MacOS environment, SecuritySpy is the recording app to use. It is quite flexible, but requires a fairly fast Mac. You can use their website's calculator to estimate machine and drive requirements. MacOS is a pretty expensive way to go, but it is possible.

WIth modern firmware on the Dahuas (not Chinese to English hacked firmware), Chrome under MacOS lets you see the Dahua GUI video without a plug. You would do normal viewing via SecuritySpy. Direct connection is only for camera adjustment.
