so I’m running a windows pc with blue iris software
I have 2 Poe hikvision dome cams
And 2 foscam Poe cams
Looking to replace the computer with a Poe nvr that has remote access
Can anyone recommend a decently priced 8 channel Poe nvr that’s pretty reliable
I was looking at the hikvision DS-7608NI-E2/8P
Is that any good
Thanks

You will loose lots of functional going from BI to an NVR.
You may also have issues with motion detection using the foscam with the hik nvr.

Really
I thought a nvr would be better
The problem is my computer constantly freezes using blue iris
I don’t think the computer can handle all the Processing
It’s a slower but newer dell
I forgot the specs would have to look them up

Provide the specs...more than likely its simply a setup issue. What is the resolution of your cameras?
You should have a clean install of windows using the microsoft media creation tool.
Even if your pc is underpowered you could run those 4 cameras easy on a 100-150 dollar third generation i5 hp elitedesk dell/optiplex from ebay.

I know it’s an underpowered pc
Maybe I’ll just upgrade the pic instead
Was gonna up the ram to 8 since that’s the max I can do

Dont bother upgrading the ram...the pc is worthless...just to put it into perspective, that cpu rates a 1029 on passmark PassMark - Intel Celeron J1800 @ 2.41GHz - Price performance comparison
That is extremely low many 10 year old pcs score 3000 or more.
This system scores 6652 and is able to perform hardware acceleration making it about 10 times more capable than your current system.

Yea I was looking at the spec again
And it has expansion bays
So I should be able to add a second hard drive and just use the second one for blue iris recordings

Got it working today
Went from 100% CPU usage to 46%
Haha
Having a problem getting the web server to work out of network and can’t figure out why

I forgot which address do you need to port forward that blue iris lists

The lan or wan

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
it should be much lower than 46...ensure you have enabled direct to disk and hardware acceleration for EACH camera....
you should ideally use a vpn to prevent hacking...
If you insist on port forwarding your question is unclear...there are several threads discussing how to do it

I got it to work
Can I ask another stupid question
I added a second drive for just the recordings
But for some reason the computer is not seeing it

The cables are plugged in

Do the jumpers have anything to do with it
It’s a WD green drive

There are no jumpers on modern drives...are the power and data cables secure to the drive and mobo? check the bios is it seen there? go to the disk management and see if it appears there. I would not use a green drive to store video...

Purple is for surveillance....there was a green drive specific to surveillance years ago, I still have on running in an older system...
if you purchased a new green drive, return it...
