True, but if you have to go back and replace improperly chosen or falsely rated cable, your intended savings go out the window, not to mention the possibility of downtime.
Properly installed, over-spec'd cable (not to be confused with over-priced cable) rarely causes issues over time; poorly chosen, under-spec'd and improperly installed cable almost always does....and at the most inopportune time!
