This is really sweet. I can see this being used in retail stores, which they do a lot around here, just different brand, as well as, front porches, kids rooms, etc.

Now you know what all those little cams above the store check lines can see. ;)

Video is much better in person, than what Youtube is displaying.
Choose 1080p.

Here are the views available in Blue Iris. All taken without moving the lens or the camera.
All rotation performed in Blue Iris.

All camera settings at default. Recorded and exported with Blue Iris.

Videos:

No lights on except for ambient light from the neighbors and two small solar lights you can see.
Yes, I walked past the cam.

In this video the Post Lamp that can be seen has 7.5 watts of LED lighting has been turned on.
Again, this cam apparently does not have an IR cut filter, as the driveway is covered by Ir from a 5231ZE, and an additional IR illluminator.

As usual, nice review... When you get a spare moment can you do some night shots both indoor and out? I appreciate the outdoor view isn't going to be great being 5mp but interested all the same of what it can achieve.

Nice writeup Looney, and +1 on the night shots. Also, all the different views you demonstrate in the video, would be nice if they were seperate channels so you could watch them seperate as well. Any info on that?

Not separate channels, but when you record to the local hard drive via the webinterface, when you play it back, you have the same options as I showed live.
I will do more outdoor day/night shots, had Drs appointments today and ran out of time.
I also will test with the Dahua NVR I have here to see how that affects things, I assume it will be the same as using the WebGui.
Blue Iris does de-warp it, so you get a solid semi rectangular picture.
More to come!

Yes, most shops use this one, can watch all corner using one cam, and can easy to check different corners, this can save money.

Thanks for this @looney2ns, Will be nice to see the views within a NVR and BlueIris. On a side note because of your avatar, I actually think you look like Chevy Chase in real life when I ever see your posts ;) ha ha

Nice. Does this camera have a mechanical IR filter so it can see IR from illuminators + other cams at night?

I'm pretty happy with the 4MP model I got, though this 5MP looks better for ceiling mounting due to capturing the full FOV.

My Chinese Dahua 4MP model is somewhat less of a vertical field of view, which still works fine for wall-mounting:

Just for field of view / image size comparison, here is the cam @looney2ns reviewed in this thread, scaled to 10% original dimensions:

Compared to the 4MP Chinese model: IPC-EW5431-ASW (4MP Fisheye)

The 4MP is wider but not as tall, so I'd say it is better for most wall mounting but decidedly worse for ceiling mounting where you care about all the edges being visible.

Ok, life keeps getting in the ....way.
I've tried it with nvr4104 lite nvr. Just records the standard 360 pic. No options in play back or live to choose the specific regions for rotated choosing the specific region to view.

BI does deworp and allows 3 different methods to view play back an pan in the region. It only allow special playback on review and only on continuous recording, not motion clips

This has been A learning experience for me, so it has taken longer than I had estimated.

  • I have discovered, it either does not have an ir cut filter Or its not working. I hear no click when going day to night. And it doesn't see any of the other IR I have on the front of the house in B&W.

More on the way.

No, EPTZ (electronic PTZ simulation)? I don't see any PTZ controls in the GUI images.

Can it stream separate, deworped streams?

I'd love something like this on an entrance wall to enable viewing of both a normal entry view and coverage of the floor (to see packages)

I'm on SecuritySpy based system, so the only way this would be usable if it did EPTZ or could deworp and stream multiple views

Not that I've found.
But if mounted at 5-6ft height, it would see packages on the floor and faces at the door.
But a better option is the Starlight Mini Wedge in 2.8mm at 5-6ft.

If you want to ship it slightly north, I can check it on a NVR5216
I'll send it back when I'm done :)

Thanks. I didn't consider a wedge. Currently using an old Hikvision eyeball with 2.8 mm lens (from the dark days before discovering Andy and Empire).
It almost covers it all, but I'm left with a choice of getting a tall person's head vs the entire floor. I was hoping this could dual stream or ePTZ
