Stays flexible throughout its lifespan. It firms up some, but still remains elastic, and cleans up nicely from the metal if necessary.

Hrmm I might have run to nearby Home Depot and give it a try. Do you think it's "weather-proof" enough for turret style cameras?

I been making a special seal for it if you look in my project thread in the installation forum but it require me to use silicone to keep the cap in and now I notice I need to break the seal to do some testing with one of the camera.
 
Wow, this was a very informative thread. I've read the whole 1722 posts with great interest and learned SEVERAL things I did not know along the way. Thanks @looney2ns, @nayr, @EMPIRETECANDY, @Solar Deity, @Frank van der Heide and everyone else for kindly sharing your time and knowledge with other member of this awesome community.

I own a Dahua OEM camera with the majority of specs identical to the SD59225U-HNI, including StarVis sensor and IVS. The only two diferences are: 1) only 20x zoom and 2) no IR (my choice, the other local OEM model had the same specs AND IR built-in). So I guess, if Dahua would sell the same camera it would be something like a SD59220U-HN. The firmware on my camera was localized by the vendor (Intelbras), but looks almost exactly the same as the newer 2017 version firmwares you guys have posted pictures above.

Now, by reading other posts here on IPCT, if I understood things correctly, I believe Dahua cameras' onboard permanent flash memory is partitioned into several separate partitions, one for the WEB interface, one for the PTZ code, another for the optics, etc. If my assumptions are correct, I suppose it's possible to replace the localized WEB interface with DAHUA's. I would like to make my camera work as much as a DAHUA branded one, because it's much easier to obtain information here than with the local OEM. I've seen another post here where a fellow member posted about some sort of firmware toolkit. Does anybody know if the thing I'm thinking about is even possible?

I've been in IT for the last 30 years and am fairly experienced with networks, operating systems (mostly MS and Apple, but some Linux knowledge as well), home automation and (very) basic electricity and electronics as well. I would therefore appreciate any input you master gurus would like to share on this subject.

PS: By the way, the camera mount that came with my camera had the same problem some of you guys posted about here. Once it was mounted, it was tilted somewhat outwards and up to the sky... I "fixed" the problem by sawing, re-soldering and re-zincing the pole end.

As you can see on the picture below, there are some differences on my localized firmware. The IVS setup is not under the Event config as on yours. Most of the settings though are exactly the same. There is also no Global tab to the right of the IVS tab, just like on the latest firmwares you guys installed on your cameras.Screen Shot 2017-07-09 at 12.03.43.png

Thought a simple answer to my doubt would not be seen as hijacking, as my camera shares the same internals and firmware as the SD5xxxx-IVS. Again, please accept my apologies if this is considered thread hijacking. I though about creating a new thread, only to realize that nobody would answer, because may camera is not know abroad.

Hi Cesar, perhaps you're not getting any responses because we're not familiar with your camera type. It's not clear to me what question you're asking the forum. Perhaps you should state your questions and maybe we can find answers for you.

The question is: Do you gurus think it would it be possible to apply the firmware for the SD5XXXX-HN to my camera? I mean, would it be possible to "rebrand" my camera? As you can see, Intelbras is listed as one of Dahua's OEMS here: Dahua OEM Directory

I'm quite sure the internals are the same as the SD5XXXX-HN series. It has IVS, Starvis Sensor, 20x zoom and no IR (my choice). It's firmware looks almost exactly the same as the 2017MMDD version of the firmware you guys applied to your cameras recently.

The reason I'm thinking about it is because it's much, much easier to obtain information here in IPCT and other IP camera boards than on the manufacturer site itself, because most people here rely on integrators to do their stuff. I prefer the DIY way.

I'm not sure if you can apply the Dahua SD5xxxx firmware onto your camera. I think it's model/type specific. It would be trial and error, where error would mean you bricked the camera. I'm sorry, but i don't want to be responsible for bricking your camera, mate. So I cannot be of very much help to you here.
 
Since last night my SD59 gave up. At midnight it started to reboot every 1,5 minutes and is completely unreachable on the network. I have used the auto-reboot option at midnight since I have this PTZ and it always worked fine. It always came back online before. Now i have a serious problem with it.

Anyone who has this experience before or heard about it or who has advice on what to do best? I will try to take it down tonight and check the wiring and RJ45 connector, but i doubt if that's the problem. If a different cable doesn't fix the issue I will try to hard reset it. Hoping for the best......

In case i need to hard reset it, can anyone share it's default network settings and the default admin password?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Have you unplugged it from power and let it set for 5 minutes, then power back on?
Unplug your internet connection as a test to see if it is getting hammered by the internet.

Turn off the Auto Reboot, and leave it off. That is just giving it an opportunity for something to go wrong.

Yes, i unplugged it for a few hours even. But still it keeps doing it's POS every 90 seconds.
I will try a hard reset tonight. I hope it brings it back. It's quite a hassle to take down a PTZ at 9 meters high.

Unplugging internet didn't solve it.

As soon as the SD59 gets power it starts it's selftests (Pan/Tilt) and then i can see it in the Dahua Config tool for about 60 seconds and then it disconnects again. So weird.

I haven't had time to do much more with it yet. I bought a USB to TTL to see if I could install new firmware that way but haven't looked into it yet.

ok, so this isn't an isolated issue .. i wonder how many more members had this and what they did to fix it
 
But also my sd59430u-hni happened the same problem loses connection from 8-8.30 in the morning then back at 19-19.30 regularly for two weeks I also contacted dahua technician but he does not even know what he can be probable Network attack with some type of malware
 
I noticed that with bees who the firmware is not written correctly, maybe it depends on this because the problem has arisen since I installed the firmware March 2017 and then I recorded the camera on easy4ip. Then I went back to the firmware 09/2016 and these issues started
