Review- New Design Tendelux 10 Watt IR illuminator.

15 months and my Tendelux illuminators are still going strong. Matter of fact I'm about to buy a few more for the new cameras at the back of my shop. After using these, I don't really care for onboard camera IR........at least not for outdoor use.

After 2.5yrs, I just had to replace the power supply that came with this 10watt light.
Other than that, it's still working well.
Got 4.5 years out of the 12VDC wall wart for this IR emitter; have replaced two 12VDC power supplies for a client's Foscam FI9831 since 2015 years.....seems like a common point of failure.

I swapped out my PSU's with better spec'd (12v 2 amp) units right out of the gate. One of my illuminators was turning off randomly and then back on which is why I did that. I also made my own extension cables using 18 Awg since I was going 30'.

The included PS was the smallest in physical size of ANY 12vdc wall wart I've ever seen.
I honestly didn't think it would last that long due to it's small size.

Original on the left, replacement on the right. Both rated the same, 12vdc 1amp.

Gallium Nitride (GaN) power supplies can be dramatically smaller than older Silicon-based at the same power rating. But I don't think they'd be cost efficient for lower-priced applications like illuminators, at least not yet. But soon.

My D120, came with a 12vdc, 1amp supply.
Both the D120 and D110 now come with a 24v PSU. 1 amp for the D110 and 1.5 amp for the D120. Here's a snippit from their Amazon ad.

"1x 110-240Vac to 24V DC 1A power adapter (2023 updated from 12V DC ones to avoid pressure drop and loss of brightness after using long extension cable)"

Doh! You are correct, I saw 1amp input, and miss applied, it is indeed 3amp output.
But the good news is...it's better to be able to supply more current than needed rather than be under-sized and not be able to supply enough, right? :headbang::cool:

Got my new D110's installed behind my shop. Camera is mounted under the soffit. The first photo is with the onboard IR. I admit, the position of the camera did not make it easy for the onboard IR to present itself in an aloquent fashion. Basically it sucked with the IR glare off the soffit. The 2nd photo is with the onboard IR turned off and the D110's turned on.
