A new camera from the AI Lite series. Has better lux rating, and Smart Motion Detection, AKA, SMD. It is supposed to allow you just choose human or auto to filter out everything else. Unfortunate that it does not work.
I set it up for Automobile only, it picked me up walking, and anything else such as shadows, etc.
I set it up for Human only, same thing, picks up anything. Worked just like plain motion would work.

The cam does have AI IVS which does work properly. IE, set filter for automobile, and it doesn't see anything else that triggers motion.
The cam does well at night in color or b/w.
The video below shows me with just 7.5 watts of LED light in the lamp post to the left in color mode. To the right of the drive where I walk into the grass, it's dark enough I have to cautious due to low light.
See what you think.

Be sure to choose 1080p in youtube player.
Recorded and exported from Blue Iris.
All camera settings at factory default except for time and channel name.

Thank You for the review!
At this price point I will look at these, instead of the more expensive IPC-HDW5231R-ZE.
Unfortunately Andy hasn't posted any stock to Amazon so I will wait.

Edit Andy explained in another thread that the delay in restocking is due to holidays just ended, yet factories, shipping, etc are closed due to containment stratagies regarding the recent virus outbreak. Which is fully understandable.

@looney2ns @bigredfish Regarding the PAL/NTSC issue Thank You for pointing out that during camera initialization one of the first questions is region and PAL or NTSC.Things like that shouldn't be so easy, it makes my old brain triple think the "easy" questions.

I suggest you check later next month. This model is still relatively new and it will take a little extra time for stock to be globally available given the present situation

Today I learned something new.
If PAL/NTSC aren't an issue then is it as simple as a fw flash or ssh command?

How does this compare with the 5442 turret (IR or LED)?

I’m on the fence regarding vari-focal vs fixed lens but I do have most of my cams current zoomed all the way out so I guess fixed lens would be fine. I’ve 5231’s installed around the house ... if I wanted to swap camera locations later would these cameras fit into the existing mounts or would I have to take down and put up new mounts?

Andy (@EMPIRETECANDY), any idea when you will get more of the IPC-HDW3241T-ZAS in stock on your Amazon store? The link @looney2ns has in the original post doesn't work anymore.

Or, does anyone know where these could be purchased? I can't find them at all online, unless they're under a different model?

I'm looking at the new low-light models, and this looks like the upgrade to the IPC-HDW2231T-ZS-S2, with a built in microphone, which is what I'm looking for.

I suggest waiting until the end of the month for things to stabilize there. So many models recently got their production halted with the release of new models, discontinuation of old models (even though still fairly new from a product release cycle perspective). The virus has really disrupted the supply chain especially in the realm of chip-availability.

I saw earlier in the thread someone asking how it compared to the 5442 but I am curious how it compares to the 5231 actually.
Long ago I heard there was no difference between the 2231 and the 5231 other than the audio.
Now that this one has audio, it seems to be more bang for the buck than the 5231 and possibly superior for my purposes.
Any comments on that?
