I have a new Dell XPS with 16 GB of RAM and an i7-10700 for our Blue Iris setup. Our facility contains more than 64 cameras which is the maximum supported by BI so it would necessitate having two BI setups however I've been wondering if it is not only practical and more cost effective but also wouldn't be a bad idea to run BI on the above-mentioned host PC but also have a VM setup running BI as well.
Total number of cameras runs around 90 and they are all set to low-medium 720p quality at 10-15 FPS.192.168.0.1

I guess it’s possible. You’d have to install Windows Server and install BI there to the host. Then enable the Hyper-V role on WS and install BI as a VM there.

Even with sub streams you may have an issue with CPU usage and 90 cameras. Would probably also need more RAM. I’m not sure I’d recommed this for a production system.

does the VM support Intel QuickSync management. if not then you will have CPU load problems.
