My fault all along. I am/was making my first Ethernet cables and crossed up two wires at the jack. Issue was corrected and further set-up was easy. I would advise first time cable makers to double check before you crimp.

No, everyone that makes a cable, should double-check that it's wired to the 568b standard everytime.

I believe a #8 will work. Dauha's web site should have a diagram of the parts with dimensions.
