SD flash card cameras, no Wi-Fi---- IMPOSSIBLE FIND

What about if I spent another $50 and got this unit, had it inside the building at the site, and then connected an external camera to it, plugged into a 120V power source? Would I be able to put the SD flash card in this device, and then have the flash loop recording I wished was just in the camera itself?
Without requiring Internet subscription, Cloud storage, Alexa, etc?
The one nice thing is I could get the flash card without having to get out a ladder and taking it out of the camera.
It would cost twice as much as just buying the camera, but at least it would get the job done?

I'm not trying to save money!!!! I just want a simple camera that will motion record to an SD flash card in a loop WITHOUT WI-FI OR ROUTER required!!!!! Sorry to verify so much but I've already bought 3 and returned! Thanks!!!!!!

And the system I just outlined doesn't require WiFi. It may require a router to create a simple network for the cameras and the NVR, but not an Internet connection. Any cheap router will do the trick. If you need to review footage from the cameras, you'll find it far simpler to download it from the NVR than to remove an SD card from a camera.

As others have already pointed out, there are plenty of Dahua and Hikvision cameras that will allow you to record to an internal SD card, but even then you'll still need a router to create a network connection for the camera, so that you can connect to it to review the video. Again, you don't want to climb a ladder to retrieve an SD card. Plus if the camera is destroyed or stolen, you'll have no video.

With an NVR you can store weeks or even months of video on a hard drive. The video will roll over when the hard drive is full, and even if you lose your cameras you'll still have the recordings.

Any camera that you could buy that operates the way that think you want it to would be junk. The video quality would be useless. You need to stop looking for solutions that won't work and embrace a solution that actually will work.

fwiw - every few people here go with the super cheap "NVR" options .. when I first started, I was thinking along the how can I do this extremely affordable .. not may good options for that.

If you have a used fairly recent PC you can run the Hikvision OEM VMS or Dahua OEM VMS software on it ( match with either Hikvision OEM or Dahua OEM cameras )

The problem I'm having is I already have a solution that works in-hand, I have a small camera that records to a flash SD card in a loop, exactly what I want, works perfectly. But its a cheap little spy camera that plugs into an outlet, it doesn't look like a full size camera and therefore is not an effective theft deterrent.
I'm not out to catch someone, I want the camera plain and visible so the crime never happens in the first place. Its SO much easier that way.

I'm thinking a portable NVR inside the storage unit possibly may do the job, with an external camera wired to it & both connected to power source. It seems overkill just for one offsite storage unit, but this might be the ticket. Luckily there is a 120V power source there to use.

That little portable NVR would never work. Claiming to work for 16 cameras that size, needing USB connected HDD will fail hourly on recording if not more frequently. It isn't even consistent on the spec - one place it say 4MP, another it says resolution is 960P.

But again what you keep tossing out there is showing that cost matters...

You get what you pay for.

If you're going to use an NVR (which is sensible), spend a little more and get a decent one from Amcrest or Dahua with an internal HD. Don't bother with SD cards in the cameras, just get an NVR that supports PoE and you're good to go.

Do that, and you'll have the option to install cameras that can actually catch the bad guys. As an example - install a good varifocal camera and point it at whatever roadway that someone would use to drive up to your property, then adjust the video settings for license plate capture. Even if the bad guys wear hoodies and face masks, it will probably never occur to them to hide their license plates.

Get a $44 IP3M-943W from amcrest.com or at ebay from amcrestdirect.
You would need a router and phone or PC for initial setup, but then install it anywhere without a router. It should just keep recording motion events to SD card in a loop, even after a camera power off/on or reboot.
Just remove SD card for viewing when necessary.
Or get a $19 router and turn it on when needed. Then use your phone or laptop to view camera recordings or save recordings. If some camera is too far from router, just move router and phone closer to camera. If you get a router, use it it for initial camera setup.
Camera comes with a 12V wall wart adapter. you can make an extension cable with proper wire size to extend distance to 120V AC receptacle if needed.

Having already bought and returned 3 cameras because they would not perform this simple function, can I be sure that this camera can have its 'operating software' downloaded at home off my router..... never mind why it couldn't just come with its operating software right out of the box...... then I can drive out to the site across town where there is NO Wi-Fi or router, just a 120V plug...... plug it in, and supposedly this thing is going to forevermore motion record in a loop to say a 128 GB flash..... allowing you to simply pop out the flash card at any time and view the video files, Simple Simon, Happy Life?

Or is the software going to be wiped out every time the camera loses power, forcing me to have to take down the camera, drive back across town and set it up again every time I power off to check the SD card?
I need to know this for sure, as I said, fool me once, fool me twice, fool me thrice. All the other models online said they would do this, and no, they did NOT and I had to return them.
Why can't someone, ANYONE just make a simple security camera that motion records in a loop to an SD card? Why does it always have to 'download' something, Cloud Storage something, subscribe to something, Alexa something, use a blinking router?

I’m at a complete loss as to why you’re ignoring people on this forum that have real world experiences?!? You do realize the information you’re receiving comes from people who span Serious DIY to professionals in the field??

You simply have to purchase ANY Dahua / Hikvision that suites your budget. Both incorporate micro SD card support in various capacities. They both offer NVR’s, smart applications, and computer software for access.

You don’t want to have a router fine just insert the Micro SD card into the unit and let it record based on your option of movement, smart tripping, to 24.7.365 recording!

If you truly believe you’re going to scale a ladder and remove the memory card just to turn around to view the same on a PC.

You’re out of your freaking mind! Never happen after the first time you try to do it!

Get a dummy camera case that fulfils your requirements and stick.......... Your spy camera inside it lol
