Setting operation Day and Night settings

I’m curious the ways to change Day and Night settings under normal operation. I know it can be done manually from the NVR web service and camera web service

What methods are used to change between the 2 automatically? I would think that the setting could be accessed similarly to the above through the web service pages, no?

I ask because I setup the LPR cameras through the camera web page using the scheduling while on the bench in my office. It was in the Day/color mode when I installed it and for some reason, it switched to B&W mode in the mid-afternoon. It wasn’t scheduled to switch until 6 PM at the time in October.

I tried to access the camera webpage remotely through the NVR, but I guess my NVR is too old and doesn’t support the newer web service. I had to go to camera settings from the NVR webpage and manually set the mode to “Day/color”. How do I get back to the scheduled Day/Night switching?

You need to access the camera Web GUI

Show your NVR camera registration page. Are the cameras plugged into the NVR directly?

There is a blue IE icon to access the camera. Any Dahua NR since at least 2016 will have them

Cameras are plugged into the NVR directly.

Below is the NVR Can reg page and the LPR West cam web page when selected

I would imagine that I could access the camera Web Gui by unplugging it from the NVR and connecting it through a POE injector to the computer, yes?

If so, how do I set the changeover to scheduled again?

I think you just have a browser issue.
Try using Edge in IE mode, or Pale Moon 32

Could be, but why does the web page display correctly if the camera is connected directly to the computer? It's only when it is connected to the NVR that the page does not display.

By the way, although the NVR is Dahua based, it is a Lorex branded model and Lorex has been known to NOT co-operate well with non-Lorex cameras. So maybe that is the issue?

I dont know,, dont own Lorex. Id try the browser

Okay, figured out how to run IE mode and it does display correctly. Below screen shots are what I have for settings. Any thoughts or suggestions?

When using a schedule, you have it set right.
Day color
If you choose night from the pull down it should show B&W

I dont see a problem

I presume setting up the Day and Night modes on standard cameras you wouldn't use schedule as there is only one main setting which can't set for all times of the year, yes? What is the best way to switch between the two settings for standard cams? Auto? Also, there is Normal, Day and Night settings, what is normal used for?

Normal is a constant profile

Night/Day or Auto if thats all you have, is what you would want. However I run ALL of my cameras on schedule. Yes it means spending 30 minutes once every 3 months to adjust it, but it works . Even Day/Night has its issues as you are relying on the light sensor on the camera to decide when its dark with no setting to adjust that.

Thanks for the information. It's always good to get great advice from real world experience. No need to re-invent the wheel

Ok, both LPR cameras are deciding to switch to night mode randomly in the middle of the day. If I go back into the camera GUI and settings to verify, the camera switches back to Day again. I click "Accept" and exit. After exiting the camera GUI, it switches back to night again within a minute or 2. I noticed it seems to happen if the working mode is set to "Customized scene". If "Day/night" working mode is selected, it stays in the correct day setting after exiting. Is it possible this might be a firmware issue?

I have posted the system info below and both LPR cameras are using the same version:

Your schedule is correct as is the time on the camera?

Yes when you are in the web gui and switch to Night to make adjustments, it will default back to day (because its daytime) when you hit the Refresh button, but it should not switch to B&W during the day

Are you using a 12 hour or 24 hour clock? There have been issues with the 12 hour clock, recommend using 24 hour/military time as most of us do.

Did you make any settings on the NVR with respect to schedule? Check that and make sure it matches the camera

Browser. Again have had various browsers create issues with settings not sticking. Try Pale Moon 32

Note:On LPR cameras specifically I always recommend a schedule that switches to B&W IR at least 45 min before sunset and 45 min after sunrise to allow the camera to focus with adequate light
Of course with the MANUAL focus option on newer cameras you can dial it in and in theory not be as concerned about the switching time

Ok, checked the system settings and both cameras were using the 12-hour clock. I have set both to 24 hour and the settings seem to be holding after accepting and exiting. There is no scheduling set through the NVR at all, all scheduling is done by camera GUI's

One last question. What working mode should be selected, I have "customized scene" selected as shown in the attached photo

Yes use that for LPR cams. It enables the time schedule at the bottom of the screen

Hi all, new guy here and very sorry for highjacking this thread, but thought it was OK as the original posters issue seems to be resolved.

I have been wracking my brain on the day/night/regular image settings from the NVR (Lorex N864A6) and their tech support is of no help.

This thread has provided me hope that I might be able to get the camera to behave the way I want as the Auto mode for backlight is too dark in low light and WDR mode 24/7 just gives me a crappy image all around.

Is there a manual for the camera settings themselves (have 4 E871AB dual lens cameras) or a thread that someone can point me to? I am willing to go down a rabbit hole so even a single pointer is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
