Setting operation Day and Night settings

Yes you asign the camera IP in the camera GUI under "Network"

Blocking them from the Internet is a whole 'nother thread. I dont and as long as P2P is turned OFF on the camera, it wont try to send anything out (assuming relatively new Dahau cameras)

* When I say "I don't" I mean that I treat them the same way as my laptop, my phone, and my TV. All are connected to my LAN and all trade an immense amount of traffic with the Interwebs. My Dahua camera just sits there and does not attempt any communication of any type to the Interwebs

Just asking again, since it seems to have been missed. I know the connection part of this equation, I just need to know how I assign new IP addresses to the cameras (I presume through the camera GUI?) in the 192.169.2.XXX range and block them from the internet. Any pointers?

Yep in the cameras GUI you go to the Network tab and select static and then give it an IP address. As soon as you hit SAVE you will lose the connection to the camera until you log in from a computer that is on the new subnet of the camera.

Most here will assign in that Network tab fake numbers for the other settings. I point them all back to the IP address of the camera so that it doesn't have a gateway or DNS to access the internet.

And then since you are putting yours on the same IP subnet as your internet, you will want to assign the final set of number to be outside of your DHCP as defined in your router so that it doesn't accidently assign a device with the same IP (or make the camera IP static in the router if it allows that). Most will assign numbers from 2-100 or 2-150 or 2-250 or whatever, so if yours is 150, then assign your cameras as 151 and 152.

Next step for added protection is to use the child block feature of the router to block the camera from the internet.

I believe when initializing the camera, it defaults to P2P setting being selected unless you uncheck the box. I doubt I unchecked the P2P box, so can it be disabled after initialization?

yes. As long as you're not using P2P to connect for remote viewing. ***But if you are using a Dahua NVR the NVR does the P2P so still no need for it to be turned on in the camera

So, my question is, if P2P was accidentally enabled in initialization, can it be disabled in the GUI? Or do I need to reset and re-initialize?

Easy. Go to Network in the GUI and turn it off. Depending on the cam it may be labeled P2P on a tab

I have a Lorex setup as well with 4 of the dual lens cameras. It seems that any camera that you are trying to display first comes up with the :10080 port number and will never show. What I do is pick a camera I don’t want to adjust after logging in, then I pick the camera I want to adjust and it will use the 10081 port which works fine

Search for port 10080. Long standing browser issue. Some have work arounds
