should every ip camera have its one core? (Dual 6core Xeons)

I wanna ran a few up cameras, (max 12) so should a dual Xeon 6 core setup, @2.66ghz. Is that enough for 12 4mp cameras?

if you are referring to 8 year old x5650 processors, toss that space heater power hog in the trash and start over. See the wiki on top for system specs.

As many as the gigabit network interface can handle, as long as you don't expect to decode the video as it comes in!
