Smartening up the Lorex LNB8005C 8MP mini bullet.

I’ve updated other cameras such as Amcrest and LaView Saturn to the dahua firmware which opens up a lot more options and to also have updated firmware that will hopefully have less vulnerabilities to attacks. The ability to view the camera from the web directly is also a bonus as currently the only way I can view it directly is thru pss software. I’ve got 8 of these cameras so the payoff to successfully change the firmware is of value.

The LNB8111 (on Lorex v20 fw) took the Dahua FW DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_V2.800.0000013.0.R.191202 directly via tftpd.
Didn't need to first flash the intermediary DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_EngSpnFrn_N_Stream3_V2.460.0000000.16.R.20170904.bin before going to v2.800.
I re-upgraded to the same from the GUI after TFTP, which may have updated the bootloader, but the result is a Dahua 4830EP-S (minus the SD card).

the DevAlias (which is shown the UI and Dahua config tool) can be set to whatever you like with a 'sentenv' in the tftp command file...

So the upshot is that the LNB8111 is for all intents and purposes identical to the LNB8005 and gets a few enhancements with update to Dahua firmware. Nice.

Sorry, I am trying to catch up with everything. Has a way been found to update a Lorex E891AB or Lorex NVR N841A8P aka with updateSerial=DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-4KS2 from the Web GUI or other method ?, Thank you
 
use a small flat screwdriver or spudger to pick up and peel off the front cover and reveal 4 philips screws. the adhesive is decent enuf that you can re-apply later.
 
After reading alastairstevenson post, I am guessing the the run commands are just uboot aliases to run other commands the it already knows about. In other words, having run command mixed with tftp commands is likely redundant.

These just run the env aliases:

Yes: the run commands are aliases and not required in the command file. Likely either will work, but the uboot env has to have them set to match.

yes, the run commands are aliases defined in the current bootloader environment and it's important to make sure the new FW has the same .img files as defined in the env, tho Not all of them need to be replaced (particularly the boot loader itself) tho.

and as for Lorex FW, we already have (some) versions posted here somewhere. I can't seem to find that post atm tho.

edit: found the post i was thinking of, but it's for the E891ab, not the lnb8005c. (stock lorex fw's from a Dahua Rep): Lorex E891AB (aka IPC-HFW1841EN-PV)

What firmware did you all end up using? Mine does not have a few thing like IVS, Face Detection, Smart Plan

I was only able to get to this level without issues
