smartvue SVC-B-3 - bought for cheap on ebay

That is actually awesome to know that POE will work. That means if I want to reflash any of my cams, I won't have to take them down and find a power adapter.

You can, but you have to change the subnet to flash them, guess its the same if you want to flash the NVR. I wish I would have bought a couple more from the guy, I asked him if he had anymore and he said he sold them all, so far I have burned by 2 of the sellers from china on ebay, total joke, I got refunded for 1 order of 2 mini dome cameras, and now I had to wait a few more days till the est shipping date passes, but the guy that sold them is already get red feedback after red feedback, so now I have to buy 2 more dome 2.8mm cams and one other to finish off my system.... ebay can really suck with these fraud sellers and the 30 day wait period.

That does suck. I guess I got lucky with the one ebay seller from china that I bought from. I bought one from aliexpress.com also. I had good luck there. A lot of people buying Hikvision cams get them at aliexpress. If you decide to go that route, research the seller first. Most people buy only from a specific seller. I still feel like ebay is safer though.

Thanks for the info, I might have to try Aliexpress, if you hve a seller in mind PM me with his/her name. I tried aliexpress a long time ago and I got a ton of spam from other sellers try to sell to me in bulk.... So I never tried it again, but today I get to file with ebay for a refund

The guy I bought from one from was cctv camera china. The link to their store is http://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/c1Xwca5i I'm not sure who everyone else is buying them from, but I do remember the words cctv and china. If you google hikvision seller and aliexpress, I'm sure you will find a forum somewhere saying who. It is also best to stay with "diamond" rated sellers. Note that the store I linked to is NOT diamond rated, so your mileage may very. The cam I bought was $50 and would have cost much more from a diamond rated seller, so I took a chance. I think there is buyer protection on aliexpress, but I don't know how it works.

Just an FYI, I used the above method to flash a swann nhd-820 cam to Hikvision software. Most of the original links in the post are dead now. I encountered an issue trying to flash version 5.1.6 firmware to the camera, where it successfully flashed, but was all but bricked. I ended up flashing version 5.2.0 and I believe it may have been an issue of the camera not letting me downgrade the software to a lower version (original was 5.2.0). I had to disable windows firewall before the tftp would work correctly this time. The benefit to all of the flashing, is that the swann 1080p cam becomes a 3mp cam once it has the hikvision firmware on it. If anyone needs camera firmware, or the tftp client and can't find it anywhere else, message me or post in this thread. I plan to keep copies locally this time.

On another note, H.265 cameras are supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread. So if you're looking to buy, research H.265 first.
