Ahhhh , look what's just appeared , web link
I swear that want there. Maybe after wattj had got me to synchronise nvr address to my modem , it had been able to reveal this. Wow just gone in and all the cams secret menu revealed . Thanks guys . Only other thing was it asked for plugins this am but thank god no more trips to camera

Amazing how following instructions makes things better.,

lol , but no BRF, that blue e was definitely not there - honest ! i looked exactly where u & wattj pointed to
u guys are patient

right autopsy done : it wasnt until just before bedtime last night that i was ever able to access the nvr via the web , because i never knew the nvr password ( now changed )
this morning i was looking in camera settings image etc rather than Add device / video device menu where that blue "e" was now just sat quietly , Doh !!

special Kudos to bigredfish and wittaj

With an NVR the only real choice is to go in every few months and update it if you have the older GUI (black/orange/grey) that only allows one schedule.

If you have a newer GUI (blue/white), they offer a schedule by the month, so you can get a lot closer by simply taking the average sunrise/sunset for the month.

Or some of the newer GUI has a day/night button that actually works.

back to orig question & you now knowing my system like back of your hand , how do i know if ive got a gui that can update itself to sunset times

No you dont. None do. The newer ones allow you to guess and set your own time's by month but they dont check any master Sunset database or do it automatically.

As I mentioned, some of the newer cameras have a day/night switch that actually works they way we expect, but your camera with the old GUI does not work that way.

Unless you purposely did something, the NVR will assign the username and password of the NVR to the camera when it first powers up.

If you cannot get into the camera, you can always factory reset the camera and let the NVR initialize it again and it will assign it the NVR user and password.

Hi
So my new dahua 5442 cam arriving this morning ( only ordered it from hong kong on Sunday ! ) am I able to plug it into my nvr uninitialised?
If not do I give it 12v & initialise it in dahuas config tool.
Is there a 1,2,3 list of steps to get it operational

So Im in on IE view of nvr, it's checked it's zoom, it's still sitting in top of add device/video device
Showing Live ,Status x , guess I need to do something to bring it to added device at bottom of page

Give it a few moments. Sometimes it can take 10 minutes before it populates below.

just so there isnt a "oh you didnt tell me that moment lol , here screen of so far , nothing done other that plug lan into back of nvr "
