Hi,

With the christmas holidays coming (and time to spare ..), I'm looking to replace my old setup (i5-3330 with SSD and 3.5'' storage) with a more power efficient solution.
Current setup has a constant load of 40% when processing 170 MP/s and consumes 55-60W constantly.

I was thinking about a
- Intel Core i3-9300
- Fujitsu D3643-H mobo
- any SSD with a 2.5'' HDD

Other people using this combination, or got better suggestions?

Thx !

I'd stay away from the 2.5" drives. They're not made for the rigors of 24/7 recording. Stick with surveillance drives like the WD purple that are built and configured for the task.

Unless your power prices is exceptionally high and the parts for a new system are exceptionally low, it will take too long for you to recover the cost of the upgrade.

With only the SSD, RAM and CPU i have an idle consumption of about 30-35W. Newer i3 builds seem to be able to get to 7-8 watts in idle. I'm wondering what the figures look like when those systems have a few cams attached.

Considered something like a refurb Dell Optiplex 9020 SFF i7-4770? I've got 7 cameras (about to add another 1 or 2) @ 580MP/s at night time and it sits around 15-20% CPU...

And what is your power consumption? Don't care that much about the load (needs to have enough headroom though), but I am mor einterested in the running costs :)
