Take an hour or three, and read through the Blue Iris Help file.
A laptop, is a terrible choice for BI.

I agree. This computer is a mini nuc style. The laptop performed admirably compared to this. I was just trying this out compared to my not from hikvision. Running a high powered computer doesn’t appeal to me

Without a non power saving processor, as is used in NUCs and laptops, you'll never get any performance from it running BI. BI is a constant load that will heat those processors up which in turn throttles them back. Not a good solution at all. An efficient desktop will use at most 50 watts and won't break a sweat running over a dozen cameras.

You are misinformed about the power usage of modern PCs. 20-40w on your average load.
