Hope someone can help but is there a way of only leaving my router on at home and still picking my camera up on my mobile whilst away, or is there a way of downloading the program to my laptop and taking that with me?

Without a little more information...

YES - but it is not recommended

Port Forward to each camera and then use an app to connect.

A vpn would also work and is recommended, but I agree with fenderman. I'm curious your reasoning for not wanting to leave it on 24/7?

HI Chris,

Your router may have a VPN option.

For your PC running Blue Iris if you do not yet have a UPS I recommend getting one and configuring it to shutdown the PC before the battery runs too low.
