Unable to play downloaded MP4 files from 2432-IW

I have a 2432-IW camera and I am unable to play the downloaded MP4 files. I can play them from the Hikvision web interface just fine, it is just not possible after downloading them. So .. what is the use of downloading them if you cannot play them ?

I have tried several applications .. with the same results.

Are you running Windows 10?

Is Windows Media Player installed?

I found out that it is not the files .. it is the application. Windows Media Player and Movie Maker will not open them. I am using VLC media player .. it works.

I am using VLC media player

It supports h.264 natively.
For WMP you need to install an h.264 codec, there is no native support.
