Since you said it is on a high ladder, go with the multiple factory resets. When I thought I lost mine once to an update and couldn't get it back, I held the reset button in for almost two minutes - heard the IR click 10 times and then I was able to get the camera back.

Isn’t the issue that the cam is on 192.168.1.0 but the VLAN is configured for 192.168.20.0?
So plug the Ethernet tail end of the cable that the cam is on into your dumb POE switch and let it boot up, then change the ip address of your desktop/laptop to an address on the 192.168.1.0 network, I tend to use something like 192.168.1.10, plug it into the dumb switch and then check to see if you can contact the cam?

Yes, did all that when I first configured the camera. It seems dead now, or at least cycling, i see the activity led go on off every minute or so. I guess it's bricked now. Just my luck. Was running pretty much all default settings. Not saying I needed the update but not even being able to recover with a factory reset, is pretty shitty.
Power it down and bring it inside. Let it sit for a few hours, then power it up and try again. I'd hold that button down before applying power to force it into a factory boot. Things may be hosed just after the firmware starts to load and that might get you around that.

Thanks, brought it inside. Tried holding the reset prior to powering with ethernet. Still no clicking or anything, and can't get it on the 1.x subnet. Will let it sit for awhile and try again I guess. But looks to be still in some sort of boot loop judging by the ethernet leds.
A successor of Dahua IPC unbricking / recovery over serial UART and TFTP I recommend you to read through the above thread first. If your camera still has a working bootloader (assume it does) then you can flash it easily, because: The camera tries to download a file called...

Hey guys The Smart IR firmware has been released. The update is mainly because of the new lot has a small hardware change, so this firmware can work for both the latest new cameras and old batches. IPC-T5442T-ZEIPC-T5442TM-AS IPC-T5241TM-AS IPC-B5442E-ZE IPC-B5442E-Z4E IPC-T5241H-AS-PV...

but I know that these cameras came with a more recent version of the firmware
Update firmware sometimes brick the camera, but very seldom. So sorry for the trouble.
Here is the TFTP Guide toto bring the camera back, it's using RS232 serial 4pin

See attached image, although it's back up, I do not see the Device Type in the information page as I do with the working camera. Odd? Will I have problems in the future? I don't want to go through the trouble of reinstalling this back to later find issues.
But guess what, I tried multiple times to flash the camera in question with:
It always bricks or goes into some boot loop!!! It has nothing to do with going to default settings prior to flashing or my "bad network" as EMPIRETECANDY eluded to in our private emails. Besides, I run enterprise equipment here.
This version always bricks one of my cameras. Why? and why did the other have no issue with this firmware? I bought two of the same cameras from Andy yet they behave in an inconsistent manner, deceptive behaviour for a new customer....
I don't know if it has something to do with the fact that the firmwares that do work have a pd-x-squashfs.img file within the .bin and the 220818 doesn't or a hardware difference, I don't know...
Really disappointed in that I had to expend a lot of grief and energy for something that should have worked first attempt as it did with the first camera. I'm currently quite ill and wish I could have avoided all of this. We live in a dangerous area . I paid someone to put it up, someone to bring it down and now I have to pay to get it back up again. I'm currently on disability and unemployed. So it's hard. But I truly thank the members for helping out.
